NVIDIA Releases Studio Driver 431.70 WHQL

NVIDIA today updated its GeForce Studio Driver to version 431.70 WHQL. NVIDIA had in March 2019 forked its client-segment GPU drivers to two, the regular GeForce "Game Ready" drivers targeting gamers and regular desktop users; and the special Studio Drivers targeting content creators who don't necessarily own expensive Quadro hardware but could do with certain professional features and application support. These drivers still won't turn your GeForce to Quadro, and won't give GeForce "certifications" for major 3D and content-creation applications, but will ensure compatibility by making the most of existing hardware features of GeForce or TITAN GPUs.

Version 431.70 adds support for GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER, RTX 2070 SUPER, and RTX 2060 SUPER GPUs; expands the list of G-SYNC compatible monitors; and adds support for new content creation applications, namely Magix VEGAS Pro v17, Autodesk Arnold, Allegorithmic Substance Painter 2019.2, Blender 2.80, Cinema 4D R21, and Otoy Octane Render 2019.2. The drivers also enable 30-bit color (not to be confused with 10-bit color) on GeForce and TITAN GPUs. This needed Quadro GPUs until now. Grab the driver from the link below.

NVIDIA Releases GeForce 431.36 WHQL Drivers

NVIDIA today released GeForce 431.36 WHQL software, which adds support for the new GeForce RTX 2060 Super and RTX 2070 Super graphics cards that went on sale from 9th July. The drivers also improve optimization for "Tom Clancy's The Division 2," "Strange Brigade," and "Metro Exodus." The drivers add SLI support for "F1 2019." The drivers address the issue of performance counts appearing over the Windows 10 1903 Start menu (since the Start menu is now its own 3D-accelerated process). A "Code 43" error that appears on Windows 1903 machines with Intel "Sandy Bridge" processors has also been fixed. Another critical bug where Windows 1903 doesn't write a crash-dump on BSOD has been fixed.

Among the game-specific fixes are screen flickering noticed in "Grand Theft Auto V" with MSAA enabled; a game-crash experienced in "Forza 4" when driving through tunnels; "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" may experience a TDR crash on GeForce "Pascal" GPU; and staying with this title, its internal benchmark may quit when ray-tracing is enabled. Grab the driver from the link below.

EVGA RTX 2060 Super and RTX 2070 Super Pictured

Ahead of formal launch tomorrow (2nd July), followed by a 9th July market availability, pictures of EVGA's custom-design GeForce RTX 2060 Super and RTX 2070 Super graphics cards were leaked to the web by an early listing on Amazon. The RTX 2060 Super XC Ultra is a triple-slot monstrosity, which uses a thicker heatsink ventilated by a pair of spinners; while the RTX 2070 Super XC is the base variant of an entire stack of cards based on this chip. The boxes have clear "Super" branding in the SKU detail corners. This branding is also found on metal decals on the cooler shrouds, and printed on the back-plates.

The listing also confirms that the RTX 2060 Super features 8 GB of GDDR6 memory. This move was necessitated by AMD equipping its Radeon RX 5700 graphics card with 8 GB of 14 Gbps GDDR6 memory. The RTX 2060 Super makes full use of the 256-bit memory bus width of the "TU106" silicon. The RTX 2070 Super, on the other hand, is based on the larger "TU104" chip, and has 2,560 of the 3,072 CUDA cores present on the chip enabled. This SKU is designed to compete with the RX 5700 XT. We'll find pictures of custom-design RTX 2080 Super as we inch closer to its July 23 market availability date.

NVIDIA RTX SUPER Lineup Detailed, Pricing Outed

NVIDIA has officially confirmed pricing and SKU availability for its refreshed Turing lineup featuring the SUPER graphics cards we've been talking about for ages now. Primed as a way to steal AMD's Navi release thunder, the new SUPER lineup means previously-released NVIDIA gppahics cards have now hit an EOL-status as soon as their souped-up, SUPER versions are available, come July 2nd.

The RTX 2060 and RTX 2080 Ti will live on, for now, as the cheapest and most powerful entries unto the world of hardware-based raytracing acceleration, respectively. The RTX 2070 and RTX 2080, however, will be superseded by the corresponding 2070 SUPER and 2080 SUPER offerings, with an additional RTX 2060 SUPER being offered so as to compete with AMD's RX 5700 ($399 for NVIDIA's new RTX 2060 SUPER vs $379 for the AMD RX 5700, which is sandwiched in the low-end by the RTX 2060 at $349).
