XMG Announces the Fusion 15 and Core 15 Gaming Laptops

With the XMG FUSION 15 and CORE 15, XMG unveils its first 15.3-inch laptops in 16:10 format. The two compact devices, which are very similar except for a few details, differ primarily regarding their CPUs: the FUSION 15 is powered by Intel's Core i9-14900HX or i7-14650HX and either an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 or 4070, while the CORE 15 combines an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS with an RTX 4060. Apart from that, the gaming laptops, which weigh around 2 kg and are 21.9 mm high, offer a WQXGA display with a brightness of 500 nits and an almost entirely aluminium chassis with a clean and elegant design.

The design language of the XMG FUSION 15 (E24) and the XMG CORE 15 (M24) focuses on understated elegance. The laptops share an identical, black anodised and torsion-resistant aluminium chassis. At 342.5 x 245 x 21.9 mm, these two 15.3-inch devices are very compact, while a reduced weight of just 2.0 kg (XMG CORE 15) or 2.1 kg (XMG FUSION 15) offers good portability.

Schenker-built Tuxedo Sirius 16 Notebook Powered by Ryzen 7040 Showcased

Back at the Schenker booth, we also spied the Tuxedo Computers Sirius 16. In XMG's product line-up, the XMG CORE 15 and CORE 17 gaming laptops embody first-class hardware adoption in the upper-mid performance bracket. The new E21 model generation not only brings an update with NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3060, but also introduces for the first time an optional 165 Hz IPS display with WQHD resolution. Featuring both current AMD and Intel 8-core processors, the laptops offer versatile memory and storage options. With their discreet and solid design, they provide a classic aesthetic counterpoint to the playful RGB lighting and aggressive gaming-biased design trend.

In contrast to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, the RTX 3060 in the XMG CORE laptops from the new E21 model generation shows a significant performance increase: with 3840 CUDA Cores, opposed to previously just 1920, the GPU is prepared for more demanding tasks than simply Full HD gaming at high quality settings. This explains why, for the first time, XMG now also offers the CORE 15 and CORE 17 with optional high-resolution WQHD displays. Since the graphics card operates at the maximum TGP specified by NVIDIA of up to 115 watts, it can unleash its full potential. XMG continues to offer both models with processors from AMD and Intel. However, the Intel version gets an upgrade to the Core i7-10870H, meaning that 8-core CPUs are now used across the board. The AMD-based laptops will utilise a Ryzen 7 5800H in the future, but until the Cezanne processors are more readily available, XMG is still planning on offering a transitional generation that combines the GeForce RTX 3060 with a Ryzen 7 4800H.

Following today's launch of the latest graphics card and processor generation from NVIDIA and AMD, XMG not only updates the gaming laptops from the NEO and PRO product lines to significantly more powerful components, but also fundamentally redesigns both series. While the maximum performance-focused XMG NEO 15 and NEO 17 feature AMD's Ryzen 9 5900H and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Max-P in each of their top configurations, the XMG PRO 15 and PRO 17 aim to perfectly combine performance and mobility. The new PRO series now measure less than 20 mm in height and thus offers significantly improved portability than the previous generation. For this reason, XMG utilises a combination of graphics cards up to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q and Intel's Core i7-10870H.

In the latest E21 version, the XMG NEO 15 and NEO 17 offer more performance than ever and feature a double upgrade. On the graphics card side, the laptops designed for the highest mobile gaming performance possible, make the leap to NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3000 series in the form of the RTX 3080, 3070 and 3060 - with 16, 8 and 6 GB of GDDR6; each in the full Max-P configuration with TGP of 135 (RTX 3080), 125 (RTX 3070) and 115 watts (RTX 3060), plus a dynamic boost of an additional 15 watts. But XMG does not only introduce the NEO laptops as mobile high-performance 3D powerhouses.

The upgrade is especially beneficial in multi-core-optimized scenarios, but will also ensure that the 15.6- and 17.3-inch gaming laptops are future-proof in terms of performance in upcoming game titles. In CineBench R20, the XMG NEO 15 with Core i7-10875H scores 4,192 points, clearly outperforming the i7-10750H with 3,352 points.

XMG Announces Serious Constraints on AMD Ryzen 7 4800H Supply, Could Extend to Industry

XMG, a well-known gaming brand for high performance laptops and PCs that operates under Schenker Technologies has announced via a Reddit post that it is facing serious constraints in AMD Ryzen 7 4800H supply. This has meant a delay for parts that were expected to be fulfilled in August, which now have an expected delivery date by late September. The company is offering a number of alternatives for users that may want to change their order in wake of the delay, including a chip downgrade (for AMD's Ryzen 4600H), a CPU manufacturer swap (to Intel's Core i7-10750H), a battery downgrade from 62Wh to 46Wh (with laptops being likely manufactured by two different ODMs in this case), or a full refund.

The company says that this has been caused, in part, by an upsurge in demand for AMD Ryzen 4800H CPUs, not only form customers, but also from some leading brands with a much more sizeable portion of the ODM market, who have apparently caught wind of the technological prowess of AMD's most recent 4000 series CPUs compared to Intel's. It can be also speculated that this supply constraint is being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still straining logistics and shipments across the globe, but also by insufficient supply to meet demand. This can be explained by the fact that most tech companies are fabless, and most semiconductor designers have to fight for TSMC's allocation for 7 nm silicon production - and there are only so many wafers that can be allocated to each company at the outset. Perhaps AMD's allocation is also favoring other renditions of their Zen silicon (ie, custom designs for the next-generation consoles and other higher-margin products).

SCHENKER XMG Announces VIA 15 Pro Notebook Powered by Ryzen 7 4800H

With the SCHENKER VIA 15 Pro (M20), Schenker Technologies presents an ultra-mobile high-performance laptop, whose top of the range version uses the eight-core AMD Ryzen 7 4800H APU. The deliberate omission of an additional, dedicated graphics card, places the laptop in an exclusive position in the European market. In contrast to its little brother, the SCHENKER VIA 15 (E20), the Leipzig-based laptop manufacturer has equipped the Pro version with more flexible connectivity options and dual-channel memory support. Indespensible features such as the 91 Wh battery and the robust lightweight chassis remain untouched.

Schenker Technologies presents the SCHENKER VIA 15 Pro with AMD's current Renoir APUs - the Ryzen 5 4600H and Ryzen 7 4800H. The powerful, multithreaded and efficient six and eight-core models each operate in the maximum configurable 54 W TDP envelope. Compared to the regular SCHENKER VIA 15 (Non-Pro), whose AMD Ryzen 5 3550U is limited to a TDP of only 15 watts, the Pro offers a remarkable performance improvement. While the majority of competitors focus on coupling AMD's mobile H-APUs with an expensive, dedicated graphics solution, the SCHENKER VIA 15 Pro takes a more efficient approach. The integrated Vega 7 graphics unit is more than capable when powering everyday applications.

AMD Ryzen 4000 Series "Vermeer" CPUs to be Compatible with B450 Motherboards

AMD's upcoming Ryzen 4000 series "Vermeer" lineup of CPUs based on the new Zen 3 core is slated to launch sometime in late 2020, and we have information about the chipset support of 4th generation of Ryzen CPUs. The laptop manufacturer XMG, known for its crazy Apex 15 laptop with 16 core AMD Ryzen 3950X CPU inside, has posted a Reddit thread about its new laptop. In the thread, XMG has listed specifications of the laptop, and in one point it mentions support for Ryzen 4000 series of CPUs. XMG has written that the B450 motherboards will be supporting the next generation CPUs simply by microcode updates AMD will push to OEMs. XMG uses the B450 chipset in its laptops, so they are presumably going to offer some configurations with Ryzen 4000 CPUs in the future. This information is good news for everybody who has a motherboard with a B450 chipset as they can get a bit more mileage out of it.

NVIDIA Quietly Refreshes Mobile GeForce RTX Graphics Cards

NVIDIA has recently introduced its GeForce RTX 20-series SUPER mobile graphics cards, with the heap of new features that are present on the new GPU models. According to a report from ComputerBase, NVIDIA has refreshed few of the RTX 20-series mobile GPUs in addition to the previously announced SUPER models. Now there are a few models/variants of these RTX 20-series GPUs. Firstly, there is a standard RTX mobile GPU variant called the "Max-P" version - this represents the RTX 20-series GPUs that were launched initially in January of 2019 and it includes three SKUs like RTX 2060, 2070 and 2080.
