Corsair ML120 PRO RGB Fan Review

So far, we have covered a fan with an older, traditional design of function over form and a fan that is 2017 exemplified with its sixteen addressable RGB LEDs and form over function. To complete the trifecta of fan reviews in this round, I wanted to go with something that does both, and it just so happened to be yet another new fan from Corsair. They have certainly been busy the past two years, and the release of the ML120 PRO fans meant they finally had something capable of competing with other top-performing case fans for watercoolers in particular. Working with Sunon, Corsair brought magnetic levitation bearings to the market, which effectively meant no bearing noise in operation. Along with the ML PRO fans came also the ML PRO LED, which came in fixed colors for the LEDs used. Of course, Corsair would have none of that, and today, we take a look at the new ML120 PRO RGB fan.

As the name might indicate, the Corsair ML120 PRO RGB fan is merely the ML PRO LED with RGB LEDs. However, things are not as simple as they might seem. For one, the fan has the same number of LEDs that are hub-mounted (four), but these are individually addressable, so the hardware is capable of more. Secondly, Corsair tells me that in the year since the ML PRO was released, they have continued to tweak the design, so the new fan should not suffer from a performance deficit with the LEDs taking up room and making the blades shorter, which hurt the LL RGB fans. I have here the triple pack of 120 mm fans which, as with their other recent fans, comes with a bundled LED fan hub, their Lighting Node PRO, and all the cables and accessories needed for software control over the lighting. Thanks again to Corsair for the review sample, and let us begin the review with a look at the specifications below.
