EVGA SuperNOVA GS 650 W Review

A Look Inside & Component Analysis »

Packaging

The box is considerably smaller than the one for EVGA's 650 W G2 model; however, its graphical design is the same. At the front are the unit's model number, and the 80 PLUS Gold badge near the front bottom-left corner is pretty small.

EVGA's typical marketing slogan has been put on this side.

The most interesting photo of the rear is the one with the unit's Chemi-Con bulk cap. You will also find the power specifications table and a graph depicting the fan's operation in both ECO and normal mode on this side.

Contents

The PSU is only protected by some bubble wrap inside the box. We would like to see some packing foam for enhanced protection instead.

The bundle includes the modular cables, some Velcro straps, a set of fixing bolts, the AC power cord, and the user's manual.

The user's manual is common to all lower capacity GS units.

Exterior

The finish is of good quality, and the small on/off switch at the front is right next to the AC receptacle.

The power specification labels are on the PSU's sides, and two stickers on the bottom depict the model number and include the serial and part numbers.

The modular panel has eight sockets, and the ECO switch is also here. This is in our opinion not the best place to install the switch; however, someone can argue that if it were installed at the PSU's front, it could be confused with the power switch.

The unit's dimensions are compact, and we are for yet another time met by EVGA's punched-out fan grill.

Cables

All cables are stealth and, with the exception of the main ATX cable, flat.

The cables are of good quality and flexible enough, mostly because 18AWG gauges are used, so cable routing won't be hard.
