NVIDIA Announces the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Graphics Card

NVIDIA today announced the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, its new performance-segment graphics card that logically succeeds the GeForce RTX 2060 Super, at a starting MSRP of USD $399, with availability slated for December 2, 2020. The GPU is based on the same 8 nm "GA104" silicon as the $499 RTX 3070, but is heavily cut down, in featuring 38 out of 48 SMs (19 out of 24 TPCs), resulting in 4,864 CUDA cores, 152 Tensor cores, 38 RT cores, 152 TMUs, and 80 ROPs.

The RTX 3060 Ti is endowed with the same memory setup as the RTX 2060 Super—8 GB of 256-bit GDDR6 at 14 Gbps, yielding 448 GB/s bandwidth. NVIDIA developed a Founders Edition card based on the RTX 3060 Ti, which resembles the RTX 3070 Founders Edition with the exception of silvery metal replacing the gunmetal on the cooler frame. NVIDIA's various AIC partners have also announced their custom-design graphics cards. NVIDIA claims that the RTX 3060 Ti performs on par with the RTX 2080 Super, making it a beast for 1440p gaming with RTX-on. Good to see more cards coming out for more choices....

But if anything of the recent past has told us, most folks won't see one of these for another 3-6 months.

Looks like stock is decent or atleast better, alot in stock here in germany

Price is like 50% below AMD 6800 NON-XT lol

Performance per dollar looks incredible

Compared to overpriced Turing series and the 3090 it definitely is, but this fades away once you step out of the green bubble and see it's beat by the almost 4 year old Polaris in every tested resolution :roll:

We used to get the x70 series cards for less than this, now 400$+ for a x60 card is "incredible" ... just sad ...

Cards aren't officially on sale until December 2nd. You probably won't find anything listed until sometime in the early morning in your area.

Beat ??? According to Wizzard's review of founders edition of RTX 3060 Ti here. RTX 3060 Ti FE is more than two times faster in every resolution than the fastest Polaris card which is RX 590. So I don't get where you got your conclusion that Polaris is faster.

Please read my post again. Nowhere does it say Polaris beats this card in absolute performance. I'm replying to the claim that this card has "incredible performance per dollar" ...

That depends on price of both cards in your area. Here RX 580 costs more than half of RTX 3060 Ti which is even slower than RX 590, so Polaris loses even in that metric.

Lets come back to the performance per dollar in one week when we see the real street prices. The 3070 launched at 500$ which should be around 500€ in EU (VAT included), but the cheapest (in stock) models now cost almost 700€ and reach over 1000€ (geizhals) ... Both (3060 Ti and 3070) use GA104, and if 3070 has low stock and high prices, it's almost impossible for 3060 Ti to have much higher stock and stay at MSRP (unless the yields are that horrible of course ...)

Yes, if the cards are out of stock or barely have any stock, which isn't the case for Polaris, that still sells well.
For example Mindfactory. In week 48 AMD has sold more Polaris cards (320) than nVidia all Ampere models combined (280):

Two times faster, but in the same time costs two times more heh.

More than two times faster than RX 580, (little bit faster RX 590 is completely out of stock here) which is available only in few remaining models with low stock, that cost more than half of RTX 3060 Ti so still better price/performance than Polaris. At least that applies in my area. But soon it will be moot, since both will be out of stock.

Basically all GPUs are being bought, the way it was with the first mining wave.
This time it is also AMD/NV trying to dry inventory for next gen product perhaps, on top of it.

Its odd that you even use Polaris as a point of comparison though. It was a great card back then (2016 to 2017) for its value. But it makes no sense to compare an aged card against the most recent card because there is no way it can keep up in terms of performance, and surely will not be anywhere competitive in terms of performance per dollar in today's context.

A week has passed and, as predicted, the prices are nowhere near the launch prices (geizhals): almost 550€ for the lowest priced card, and up to 700+€ for the highest priced one ...
