The Radeon R9 M380 Mac Edition was a mobile graphics chip by AMD, launched on May 5th, 2015. Built on the 28 nm process, and based on the Strato graphics processor, in its Strato PRO variant, the chip supports DirectX 12. This ensures that all modern games will run on Radeon R9 M380 Mac Edition. The Strato graphics processor is an average sized chip with a die area of 160 mm² and 2,080 million transistors. Unlike the fully unlocked Radeon R9 M385, which uses the same GPU but has all 896 shaders enabled, AMD has disabled some shading units on the Radeon R9 M380 Mac Edition to reach the product's target shader count. It features 768 shading units, 48 texture mapping units, and 16 ROPs. AMD has paired 2,048 MB GDDR5 memory with the Radeon R9 M380 Mac Edition, which are connected using a 128-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 900 MHz, which can be boosted up to 1021 MHz, memory is running at 1568 MHz (6.3 Gbps effective).
Its power draw is not exactly known. This device has no display connectivity, as it is not designed to have monitors connected to it. Rather it is intended for use in laptop/notebooks and will use the output of the host mobile device. Radeon R9 M380 Mac Edition is connected to the rest of the system using a PCI-Express 3.0 x16 interface.
