Gigabyte Readies GeForce GTS 450 Duo

Gigabyte is readying not one, but two distinct GeForce GTS 450 graphics card designs, which will deck up the company's launch catalogue for this SKU: the first is a more cost-effective design, on which is based the GV-N450-1GI, while the second one is geared for OC variants (such as the GV-N450OC-1GI) and is designed for overclockers. The easiest way to identify this design on a sealed box is the mention of a "WindForce 2X" cooler that features a dust-reducing design.

Specifications wise, the GV-N450-1GI sticks to the essentials, and features a no-frills PCB and cooler. Its cooler makes use of a heatsink with forked, spirally-projecting aluminum fins, which draw heat away from a copper GPU base. This model sticks to NVIDIA reference clock speeds of 783/1566/900(3600) MHz core/shader/memory(memory effective). Along with every other base model, it is priced at $129.99. The second card, the GV-N450OC-1GI, features a longer PCB, with better components that support higher clock speeds, and is overclocker-friendly, in case you decide to go beyond its clock speeds of 830/1620/902(3608) MHz. This card features a robust-looking cooler that features a dense aluminum fin array, to which heat is conveyed by two 8 mm thick heat pipes, cooled by two fans. This card is priced just $10 over the base model. Both will launch early next week.

As in duo cooler, not duo GPU
Nice design btw. I like that the hot air get out of the box.

should be no need to water cool this beast (GV-N450OC-1GI) even at extreme OC's of around 1ghz, especially considering the reworked PCB.

I think its fantastic we are seeing non reference cards apon release now, as oppose to the market 1-3 years ago when all taht was avaialible on release were reference cards.

Aw man, the title mislead me. I thought it a dual 450 card. :ohwell:
Nice coolers, though.

Well, Gigabyte did made a dual 6600GT card back in the days. The GV-3D1. So i wouldn't be surprised if this was a true 2 GPU solution. But for 130 bucks, it's just not possible.

do you see the pci-e finfers on the cards?? it looks as though every other copper finger is missing on the pci-e connector, why??

That means they just removed the fingers they were not going to use or were not needed for the card to work properly. Saves materials and reduces price. It's not that uncommon, lots of PCI cards have this.

by duo it means two separate GTS450 variants, not a dual gpu-single card solution

Eh, duo as 2 cards released. I don't know why thread poster made it uppercase (Duo) as it then sounds like a dual GPU solution. If it was lowercase (duo), it would make more sense...

This?

Or this?

Second one makes more sense. One more reason why it's not good to make all words starting with capital letters...

It's a title for a news article, hence even the verb ("Readies") is capitalized.

When I first read the title I thought that too for a split second, but then I read the article and saw the prictures and it was all very clear.

did you look at the contents of the article before posting?

Same cooler on that card as in mine (GTX 460). A bit of overkill maybe, but that card will be silent no matter how much you overclock :D

Ah yes, it's only on the OC model, with that price difference no point of getting the stock card. The cooler is worth much more that 10$ :)

yeah with that great cooler and reworked PCB, 10$ is nothing at all.

come to think of it a dual GTS450 card for around or a little over 200$ wouldn't be too bad at all, but would be better with GF104. given nvidia would be competing againt themselves at that price point.
