GammaTech Introduces Semi-Rugged Ultra-Mobile Personal Computer

GammaTech Computer Corp., a major international manufacturer and supplier of innovative notebook and tablet computers, announces the introduction of its semi-rugged ultra-mobile tablet PC (UMPC), Durabook model CA10. The unit features a 10.1" TFT LCD display with resistive multi-touch screen panel, meets Military Standard 810G and IP43 standard for drop, shock, dust and water resistance, has hot swappable dual-battery design that offers up to eight hours of power, and a quick menu support for easy operability.

The GammaTech semi-rugged Durabook CA10 provides utility workers, public safety employees, fleet managers, and many others with the information they need no matter where they are. Its wireless connectivity increases their productivity and efficiency while keeping them in touch with company networks. Additionally, optional GPS technology enables them to get exactly where they need to be.

Special Features for Field Service Applications
A host of special features makes using the CA10 in the field an easy, enjoyable experience. Its 10.1" TFT LCD display has a two-point resistive touch-screen panel. It also supports a digitizer for turning analog touch inputs into digital inputs. An optional stylus pen provides stability and convenience. The unit also supports a variety of wireless communications such as Intel Wi-Fi Link 135 and Bluetooth 4.0 as well as offering optional Mini PCI-E for WWAN/GPS (3G or LTE module) and RFID/NFC module.

Long periods of time away from an electric outlet are made acceptable with the unit's dual-battery design with true hot-swap capability. Together, the two battery packs offer up to eight hours of power. Among the unit's quick menu capabilities are on/off switches for its RF device, barcode scanner, and RFID/NFC; volume and brightness adjustment; on-screen keyboard, and others. The CA10 also includes a Smart card reader, pin pad device, and a magnetic swipe reader for use in applications involving some type of monetary transaction.
Other features include an Intel ATOM (Cedarview-M) processor; m-SATA SSD with storage ranging from 32GB to 128GB; assorted I/O ports; and a docking station with four ports (USB, RJ-45, DC-in, and serial).

Durability
The Durabook CA10 meets IP43 standard for dust and water spray resistance from all directions, ensuring the unit can be used safely in the wet, windy, dirty conditions that are frequently part of a field-service worker's day. It also meets Military Standard 810G for drop and shock resistance, has withstood drop tests of up to four feet and will function in temperatures as low as 0-degrees F.

Availability
The Durabook CA10 semi-rugged tablet PC is available through authorized resellers nationwide and on the GammaTech website. It has a MSRP of $1,299.00, and comes with a standard two-year warranty. As with all GammaTech products, it may be customized to customer specifications.
