It's been on Epic Games as an Early Access game for about two years or so, being used for live-testing. It's a fun game, but kind of repetitive. Been playing it on and off every now and then. The developer has regularly posted on their forums about the gradual updates to the game and taking some feedback to refine it.

It's basically a mobile base construction/survival game with FPS/exploration elements. The setting starts off with German NotNazis attempting to break into the player's lab, and the player escapes into the void gate with a Void Train that's not much better than a manual pump cart, trying to salvage and craft upgrades and gradually expand their character's capabilities, and the capabilities of their train.

Last time I played the game (about 5 months back), I've pretty much maxed out the current train design and was mostly just doing a regular repeat of fending off German Void Train hijacking attempts and invading German Void Depots for parts and facilities to repair and upgrade my train, while also trying to survive against Void monsters and exploring beyond the safe confines of the train. Since then, they've basically wiped all saves since they rebooted the story line with more detail, and adding more biomes every 10 stations.

The biggest feature to the game though is being able to co-op with a friend and run the main player's train together, fending off enemy boarding or helping with exploring.

Pro-tips for anyone who chooses to play the game (may or may not be relevant since I did last play about 5 months back):
  • Always ensure there's both a brake lever and an engine lever installed in the back of the train (last car), and maybe in the middle car. It helps a lot when needing to stop the train when something of interest catches your eye (or the need to repel a boarding attempt while you were idling the drive between stations by crafting).
  • When you finally unlock the bigger engines, leave a little space up front (one square's worth) to have a bit of space to shoot from, as many times you may run into an enemy checkpoint or mines along the train's path, and if you don't have the space to maneuver, you'll be stuck having to try and fight from the sides of the engine or resorting to float/latching onto your train and fighting unprotected from above.
  • Leave a storage chest in the engine cabin, and fill it only with fuel consumables. It'll make things much easier when keeping your Train's fuel supply topped off.
  • Build a Storage/Workshop Car out of the first train car; using shelves and the biggest storage boxes you can craft, and try to keep your crafting materials sorted so it's easier to dip into what you need before heading off to the workbenches on the other side of your car.
  • The nice covered train cars is a trap; you'd ideally want at least one open topped car with walls to make it easier to fight around, or build a covered center but open front/back ends to fight from. In my game, I used the second car for this, while hosting the other workbenches that wouldn't fit into the Workshop Car, and weapons storage chests to quickly grab or swap weapons against boarders. Do note the two levers; one is for braking, the other is to get the train moving. Very useful when fighting enemy trains and unfriendly wildlife.
  • Do whatever you want with the last car. I made mine another fighting platform, with another set of levers to start/stop the train. Useful for the larger void sharks that attack your train from behind.

the early steam reviews are not good, mixed at best, which speaks a lot for something that's been in "early access" for 2 years....

I guess another game i'll take a look maybe in a year when it's more complete but since in 2 years they have not addressed the issues with the reviews i'm not holding much hope
