Take-Two Boss Comments on GTA VI Delay - Anticipates Growth & Record Revenues in FY25

Take-Two Interactive—the owner of Rockstar Games—has publicly endorsed the studio's decision to delay the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI into 2026. Following months of insider whispers, long-time franchise fans were not surprised when reading Rockstar's apology. Initially, Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) was pictured as an important system seller—industry experts and analysts theorized a sharp uptake of PlayStation 5 Pro units. Due to the AAA+ title's planned home console-exclusive release, many hardcore gamers would opt for the best available experience—enabled by flagship hardware.

Naturally, the game's publisher was looking forward to massive sale results in 2025—mainly driven by Rockstar's big open world blockbuster. With a revised release date of May 26—within the next financial year—company leadership remains confident about a current GTA VI-less calendar. Strauss Zelnick—Two Interactive Software's chairman and CEO—believes that an upward trajectory is still on the cards: "we support fully Rockstar Games taking additional time to realize their creative vision for Grand Theft Auto VI, which promises to be a groundbreaking, blockbuster entertainment experience that exceeds audience expectations. While we take the movement of our titles seriously and appreciate the vast and deep global anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI, we remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence. As we continue to release our phenomenal pipeline, we expect to deliver a multi-year period of growth in our business and enhanced value for our shareholders."

I am getting so sick of these delays. Makes me less and less interested in being a gamer with all this waiting. I still cant get over I was still in college when GTA 5 came out... They have had plenty of time to make this game, I guarantee there is more behind this than just making the game better.

Most AAA studios are starting to make me lose interest in their games. Maybe I will play GTA VII with my great grand kids.

Would not mind if this boss got hit by a car myself.
From a quick glance at that article, the lay-offs were for a $50m cost reduction.... LMFAO so these greedy B*****S could have had $22M and kept all staff on but no, $72M in compensation/bonuses between 2 execs after people losing their liveliehood is F'n crazy man

But you will get it still.

I need evidence that it's any good yet and not just pretty graphics. Will not be holding my breath though as GTA5 was pretty shit except for the story and the cars drive like ass and the roads sucked compared to the one before it.

It amazes me how far GTAV has gone. It's almost to the point of being World Of Warcraft levels of longevity.

I avoid paying full price for Rockstar games as they ditched single player content for both GTA V and RDR2. Can't believe a company with those resources would struggle to find the budget and talent to do so. GTA VI is barely registering for me

Havn't bought a GTA since 3, so this doesn't affect me.

Wait what? Those are single played games, GTA Online and Red Dead Online are seperate games. You can play RDR2 just fine. Had it been a better game if they had releaed DLC every six months?

Opportunity for PlayStation to replace the PS5 Pro with a PS6, and make the release date May 26 the same as GTA6.

The title mentions "growth" and "revenues" instead of anything about the game itself. This says everything I need to know about Rockstar.

Played GTA3, had fun, was biggest shift from top down 2D to 3D which was really cool. Played Vice City and never finished it, played San Andreas and never finished it. Never played GTA4 or GTA5. I'm not really riding the hype train anymore.

Since i´ve started with Saints Row GTA always looked less funny and not worth the switch.

Until someone showed me what mods can do to make it fun!

But the base game in single player mode was not something that stood out more than the Saints Row story line.

Good luck! I´m not going to bet on a sure win.

Considering I can’t get a decent GPU any time soon, makes me kind of happy

Come on, can you blame them? They have an already well loved game making them a ton of money. There's a saying in old Czechoslovakia: Never meddle with a good thing.

I don't blame anyone. I just simply don't care about business bullshit. I only care about games (not that I'm a GTA fan - never have been, but still).

GTA3 was fun because all parameters were just there in files. I remember "hacking" (modifying really) the Mafia Sentinel or something, a black sedan to have so ridiculous acceleration it would slide all over the place and go like rocket. It was so fun and funny.

As I said in the other topic before reading this headline... its all about the money obviously. They just want to drag on the GTA V Online cash cow to the max.

And I reckon they'll find a way to guarantee continuation of it in some arcane twisted way. Transfer account, or maybe they'll even just roll the GTA V Online into the VI experience. Spend more, get less, go go fanbase!

Just play your backlist. You are not done with all your games, yes?

I will share ten of the games on mine that I have yet to play substantially (more than 2 hours):

Baldur's Gate 3
Hades 2
Cyberpunk 2077
Disco Elysium
Slay the Princess
Hollywood Animal
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Phantom Brigade
Armored Core VI
Desperados III

In a few weeks, I will be adding Broken Arrow to this list.

This is why we should stop paying insane money for games. I don't understand how anyone can find the time to play anything on day one without sacrificing a huge part of their backlog.

I'm playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 right now. My backlog got longer by at least 3 games because of it.

They should price the game at $200, just to prove a point. Why limit yourself to $70, or $80, or $90?

Did we play the same GTA IV? The one with cars that drive like bloated bars of soap?

GTA V's most popular multiplayer aspect is its variety of races, nobody would have ever thought to try that with GTA IV's physics.

Won't be shocked if it's 100 usd.

People for some reason blow GTA games way out of proportion they are solid for sure but I doubt more than half even finish the game. I bet most just run around trying to get as many cops after them as possible and wipe them all out with cheats.

Not sure the TAA must blur everything era we are in now is any better....
