GeIL At Computex 2025: Orion V, Gemini RGB, and Aquarius DDR5 Memory
GeIL Memory brought its latest gaming PC memory products to Computex 2025. We begin our tour with the GeIL Aquarius DDR5 memory, which features a solid gold mirror-finish aluminium heat spreader that puts it in the same category of premium as the G.Skill Royal. There's just one silicone RGB diffuser along the sides. The GeIL Aquarius is expected to come in various high DDR5 speeds (think 8000 MT/s and above). Next up, is the Gemini V RGB, the company's performance-segment memory that comes with a prominent silicone RGB diffuser along the top, upper mid-range speeds, and capacities of up to 64 GB. Lastly, there's the Orion V RGB, the company's high-performance memory series that comes in asymmetric capacities such as 24 GB, to make up 96 GB memory configurations, and speeds of 6000 MT/s and above.

But, these boutique PCs are like a hundred miles beyond that point. Some things get better when they're pulled far into craziness and over the top, like, its becoming a thing of its own... This really doesn't... it looks like a massive waste of time, glass, and LEDs, creating a messy, reflective, annoying to look at christmas tree. Even Christmas trees are better to look at; there's some semblance of structure in them, a defined shape, etc. This right here is just turning into a ridiculous contest of how much % of each component can be turned into useless features with diffusers, leds, gold and glass.
And to top it all off, these way overpriced components often perform worse than their competitors too. Its quickly turning into a 'tell me you really aren't into PCs without telling me you aren't' statement. If you value performance or even good taste, this is not where you need to be lol.
The gold plated 5090 is also illustrative of this. Single power plug, shit PCB design, AND they put gold on the shroud. A double confirmation of a product built for infinite fools that just need to spend money.
