John Carmack Frags Dedicated PPUs
"I'm not a believer." That was john carmack's responce when asked about his opinion of dedicated PPU cards. He said that he believes multi-core cpus are a much better base for developers to use for physics calculations especially due to their fast spread in the market. Carmack is following the path that was laid by Valve Software's Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Crytek's Crysis and Remedy's Alan Wake which all three do advanced physics calculations using multi-core cpus. So far 2 of the few games that fully support AGEIA are Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 1/2 and the upcoming Unreal 2007.

"And then Carmack said 'Let there be DOOM' and DOOM was created."
Best damn FPS ever.
Unless they start putting dedicated PPUs directly on the MoBos I doubt I will ever get one.
