Wouldn't this basically kill the 8800 gts?

i set my 8800GTS shader clock at 1510MHz and my core at 650MHz and ram at 1040MHz (2080MHz effective) i've seen the Fatal1ty edition with the shader clock as high as 1620 i think this means i'm going to push my card even harder! :rockout:

the extra 16 shader pipes wont make that much of a huge difference. :ohwell:

yea i clocked my 8800gts to 700mhz core and 1090mhz mem 2180mhz effective

but then the 8800GT can clock over the GTS so i realy payed too much for this card:(

i payed $459 for my eVGA 8800GTS with the acs3 cooler on it.

which was too much!! i want an 8800 ultra but thats way too much!

im gonna try and push my card to your specs with 1600MHz shader.

When will this be for sale?

pretty sure this will be my next card :D

now I just have to upgrade my cpu ram and mobo in order to get it haha

When I initially read this, I thought the CORE was going to be 1.5GHz :/

waiting for official memory sizes before i start to complain but as of right now all i can say is that the price of the 8800GTS had better plummet a fair amount upon the 8800GT release. if you haven't seen this already here's an "8800GT" readout from GPU-Z 0.0.7.

ok i am going to complain actually. i am curious as to whom at NVIDIA thought it peachy to take a "mid-range" product (as the GT series has always been) and soup it up to the point where the nearly twice as costly "high-end" product falls behind it in performance... not to mention giving it a single slot cooling solution no less. i'd love to get my PCI-E slots back but no dice unless i get a single slot water block that may require void like alterations to ensure perfect contact with all the components requiring cooling.. ARGH!

i think this will only get 256/512mb of ram to cripple it at the higher res so people still have a reason to buy the gts/gtx.

so...what about when they switch the 88gts/gtx to 65nm too?

I hope the swiftech 8800 watercooling mofest/ram coolers fit on this 8800gt! 1900gt will go back in my rig for the time being lol.. well if this card beats the 8800gts 640mb that is. :P

The 8800 GT will be a segment champ. Remember, it is a 256 bit memory interface. The new GTS will have the same number of shader processors and sport the better tuned 320 bit memory interface. So, memory bandwidth will still be better on the GTS cards.

I did a Bios mod on mine to change stock shader speeds, then voltmodded it for a little extra on the core as my card is a Rev2...check specs, works a treat.

i've never done one. i modded my bios to have a higher shader clock though. that definitely increased my 3dmark score alot.

Atlast some real mid range cards coming out. Too bad there are really few games out there which would justify these cards for me.

I mean Bioshock was cool and all but my 1900xtx could handle it, so what do I need a new card for. Crysis and UT3 ? Mindless shooters which dont intrest me the slightest bit. The frustration! Maybe I should fire up my old benchmarking habits ;)

Anyways, these are the happy times for 3D buyers, finally we have full range of DX10 cards available to choose from. Mid range was kinda missing untill now.

So as not to go off topic in this thread, drop me a PM and I will let you have a picture to show how this one is done, I can also let you have a guide, there are pencil mods, but this one is a "hard mod" so requires soldering and a resistor.

For those of you who have not been paying attention, the 640MB GTS will be discontinued. The 8800GT will fill the (tiny) gap between the 320MB GTS and the GTX.

I would think that the 320 MB is the logical delete in this case, not the 640 MB which is supposed to get bumped to 112 SP like the 8800 GT. So, 256 bit GDDR3 256 MB to 512 MB card with 112 SP, a 320 bit 640 MB card with 112 SP with higher clocks and a 384 bit 768 MB card with 128 SP.
