QNAP Introduces VioStor-8040U-RP NVR and VioStor-8040 NVR

QNAP Security today unveils the high performance 8-bay chassis VioStor-8040U-RP NVR and 8-bay tower VioStor-8040 NVR network surveillance systems featuring Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8 GHz CPU, 2 GB DDRII memory, 8 hot-swappable hard drive bays for up to 16TB storage capacity, 40-channel recording from IP cameras, megapixel recording (up to 8 megapixels) and other advanced features such as RAID 0/1/5/6/5+spare/6+spare, Online RAID Capacity Expansion, and Online RAID Level Migration. The VioStor-8040U-RP NVR and VioStor-8040 NVR support M-JPEG, MPEG-4, and H.264 video compression and are compatible with the IP-based cameras and network video servers from AXIS, ACTi, Arecont, Canon, Cisco, D-Link, EDIMAX, ELMO, EtroVision, GANZ, iPUX, IQeye, LevelOne, Linksys, MOBOTIX, Panasonic BB/ BL/ i-Pro, SANYO, SONY, TOA, TOSHIBA, TRENDnet, VIVOTEK, and Y-CAM, etc.
According to Andrew Yu, Product Manager from QNAP, "Compared with other NVR of the same level, we are in advantage of high performance and scalability. The VioStor-8040U-RP NVR and VioStor-8040 NVR adopt Intel Core 2 Duo high performance CPU and are able to achieve up to 300Mbps throughput, which is on top of other embedded NVR brands in the current market. Both NVR supports H.264 video compression which delivers small-sized and high quality recording. Also, over 24 IP camera brands and 300 IP camera models are supported. The users can freely select their camera combination for simultaneous monitoring on one NVR. The NVR is an excellent option for central monitoring and recording of numerous network cameras in a large-scale surveillance system."

The QNAP VioStor-8040U-RP NVR and VioStor-8040 NVR are standalone systems that can be set up in 6 steps without any software required on the PC. The NVR users can use the unique multi-server monitoring feature to monitor up to 120 IP camera channels from multiple QNAP NVR servers. Also, the NVR supports dual screen display and diversified display modes, allowing simultaneous monitoring from up to 42 channels. Complete recording features are provided, e.g. schedule recording, alarm recording, alarm recording schedule, motion-detection recording, pre-alarm, and post-alarm recordings. Other features including intelligent data search by timeline and event type, DDNS, dual Giga LAN for network failover, load balancing, and multi-IP settings. Moreover, the VioStor-8040U-RP NVR is featured with two power supply units and hot-swappable redundant power design. A failed unit can be replaced without shutting down the system, which guarantees high system stability and continuous system operation.
