Anyone else getting freaky issues with Nvidia lately?

Played The Crew for 2 hours straight zero issues.. might be on a winner here :D

or just do as i do and stay on 372.70 ... as i have no issues everything is working perfectly fine and i see report of issues that need unnecessary complication to make it right for the 372.90 (com'on who need to flash a card to make a driver behave correctly ... nvidia need to take out their head from their @$$ and do things correctly ... it's been too long now... )

Im after trying out a few bios in the same series of the galaxy gtx 660 2gb in relation to the drivers from 334.89 to 373.xx it seems to make a small improvement then the graphic core just started to drop after 15 minutes of gameplay making it unplayable. It just fair annoying really :s

Can anyone find a suitable stable driver verison for the gtx 660 2gb to suit project cars as every time i run it it keeps freezing as im on windows 10. Just getting sick of poor performance

Turned out after a few weeks testing it is the pci frequency in the bios plays a crucial role in the graphic card. As mine was set 100 causes unstable when the graphic is underloaded causes freezes so i bumped it up to 101. It improves a small bit so i went all the way to 105 for a safe run it didnt freeze on project cars or any other games i tried. Before i was getting less than 50 fps on med settings which was choppy that when the pci frequency was on 100 so it on 105 im getting aroun 70 to 115 fps nearly smooth as butter. Hopes this help someone with similar issuss

100MHz is the correct setting, so this sounds like a bug in the mobo's BIOS. Is there a later version for it? Nice bit of troubleshooting there. :)

Im on the latest bios custom made by ket also modded to take on xeon e5450 on the asus p5q premium. Not a bug in the bios it just a setting i rarely touch but increasing the number in the pci freq helps to release the bottleneck for the pcie x16 2.0 slot otherwise i be wasting money on buying another motherboard or graphic card

As i have another simliar build pc with asus p5q deluxe with ati hd5670 on pcie x16 2.0 that has the pci freq set at 100 that dont freeze on spec ops the line at all. So i come to idea that nvidia cards needs a higher pci freq number to run without issues

373.06 works fine for me. everything newer causes goofiness

Well i suppose you could be right about that maybe it my asus p5q premium may not be liking the graphic card so i decided to put the graphic card from pcie x16 2.0 to x8 as it shows the same problem freezing in game after i readjusted the pci freg to 105 so i tested in x4 based on pcie 1.1 it ran the project cars without issues getting fps around 70 to 120 on mid settings depending on tracks but with vsync on it smooth without dips. As my xeon e5450 E0 clocked at 4ghz temps at 1.3v without loadline calabration (llc) dipping about 1.24v on load maxing out 60's to 63 with noctua C12P SE14 keeping it in check. And the galaxy gtx 660 2gb with fan set 60% it maxing about 60 to 65 in temp so it not the drivers after all it just a bad marriage between the motherboard and graphic card lol

GFE, not the drivers.

Not really. If you're on windows 8/10, and using a nonhotfix package, drivers as well.

Not the issue here however.

No problems here running the latest drivers on my GTX 970 under Windows 7, GTX 670 under Windows 10 and 7, GTX 650 Ti under Windows 7, no issues so far :)

Further testing made on my pc it was down to the pcie x16 2.0 slot and the galaxy gtx 660 2gb as i was cleaning it out from top to bottem of all the parts and inspecting the pcie slot that was causing the issues. So i decided to get the deposiable nail file to clean the contacts in a up and down motion then found the flathead screw driver with the same size width. So i put in the screw driver in the slot in a slow motion move to see if all the pins move in the same way and just as found one i straighten it out. Then used the deposiable nail file to clean the contacts on the graphic card pins as it meant to be shiny and at last swiped it clean with a lintfree cloth. Now it working as it should just made my day

As before i done the fix project cars game keeps freezing the picture but sounds keeps going and the fps was all over the place between 40 to 70 and choppy gameplay. Then as i done the fix it it runs at 90 to 175 on mid settings depending on tracks without issues and the graphic card keeps at 1033mhz on boost as before it used to get to 1033mhz then the freeze the graphic card kicked it down to 547mhz and keeps it there for a few minutes then it just dropped to 324mhz causing the pc to freeze badly till i had to hard reset it. So in overall my findings of all the problems i had with my custom pc it not the hardware or software that causes problems it the poor contacts that were so dirty makes all the issues arises. If anyone buying secondhand pc parts clean every contact strips and make sure the gold contacts are shiny as possible with rubber eraser and alcohol wipes and the pcie and ram slot clean them with depositable nail file in motion of up and down and blow out the slots with compressed air can as it makes all the differences in the pc. This solved all my issues since the first day i started to build the pc it was driving me mad till today. My custom pc is a totally different animal now

further discovery on my issues i was having with my pc and gtx 660 2gb by galaxy tech. as i did a clean install of windows 8.1 for testing. as i came across the issue by msi afterburner even with riva on screen showing fps and other details both of the softwares are the main cause of my crashing on games. My best "ADVISE" is to get rid of the msi afterburner and riva all together and clean the registery. then download HWINFO as it the best for monitoring everything on you pc and no point in overclocking or underclocking the card. Please let the graphic card do it own boosting

3 PCs here, with kepler (770), Maxwell (970) and Pascal 1070. All running perfectly, no issues whatsoever. I can only assume that its odd mobo compatibility issues some people may be facing, often resolved with mobo bios update.

Well it an asus p5q premium with e5450 e0 maybe it something inside the galaxy gtx 660 bios as i noticed the boost is off by abit as according to the spec it mentioned 1033mhz boost but when i get the graphic card to run in nearly full load in project car in dx9 mode it runs with little hic ups which the cars boosted to 1071mhz as the dx11 after 5 minutes just freezes the screen with audio running and the card just dropped to 549mhz. I just dont know why the card boosted past 1033mhz as i already lowered the core clock by 38mhz still the same effect

I had some issues with BSOD recently. I updated the drivers and they went away. I then had some really weird issue in Stalkersoup, but that thing is buggy as hell...

I know the feeling just wishing nvidia stop pissing around the driver department every time theres an update alot of things break under the hood same goes for microsoft giving out so called update for the graphic driver. I wish theres an option that tell the windows update to f..k off for once that we have required a driver that works for every thing than breaking every time we update one

i am really blown away with a discovery with the galaxy gtx 660 based on this link http://www.galaxytech.com/__EN_GB__...isStop=0&isPack=False&isPow=False&isSSD=False according to this site the card only boosted to 1033mhz as the same card i have listed before on this list
GPU Engine Specs:

CUDA Cores 960
Base Clock (MHz) 980
Boost Clock (MHz) 1033

that what the card was meant to do in boosting mode
As i said before mine was boosting to 1072mhx really unstable for dx11 and only a short time for dx9 then it crashed like no tomorrow so i decided to hack away to the unknown bios (i dunno if it was original or modded as i got it (seller said it was having lines on screen i fixed it as it turn out the metal plate that hold the connnectors was bent out of shape) on ebay from america no sure what state it origially came from) i decided to lower the based in the picture and it started to play project cars in dx11 without issue i just tried and tested this on my troublesome card one i was able to modify it back to the originaL value shown on the attachment image the graphic card responded like a champ without the voltage bouncing off the limiter

as the original image was the shown the messed up bios which was the core clock calibration meaning it was running offset so much causes the crashing games and other appications enclosed in the attachement pass this around to the people and the web in order to fix the problem on the gtx 660 series maybe other graphic cards as i tested and it fine after 30 mins of racing nurburgring nordschleife in project cars
