xfx rx480 8gb flashed to saphire rx580

Hello, i tried both bios but entered windows 10 x64 pro, i install the drivers and i patch as i always did with bios mod, but it does not work, i miss something?

Doesn't seem that the bios flash didn't go through.

Are you running a 4gb model?

XFX 480 GTR can go all the way stable to 1475 proven by JayZTwoCents.

It seems that the bios update didnt gave much OC boost.

But a job well done on the flash and functionality of the card.

Now where are those shaders to be unlocked....:ohwell:

With the rx580 1450mhz bios (Sapphire.RX580.8192.170320_1.rom) my card could load and play games, benchmark stable at 1470/2200mhz.
With the rx580 1411mhz bios (Sapphire.RX580.8192.170320.rom) my card could load and play games, benchmark stable at 1450/2200mhz. (it could load games and benchmark at 1470/2200mhz too but it wasnt stable and artifacts all over the screen)
With the rx480 bios (msi gaming x) i could overclock and the card could load and play games, benchmark stable at 1400/2150mhz.

Im gonna keep the 1450mhz bios on the card and run it at 1470/2200mhz as it seems fine for now. This is all with the fan curve on auto, im gonna crank it up and see if i can get 1500mhz on the core, but there is no way i wanna game with the fan at 100% :)

Thank you TonybonJoby, for providing all the links!
*It ran ~half of Superposition on 1500mhz core clock but then it crashed, even with the fan blowing at 100% :)

I thought MSI Gaming X is quiet, at least mine is, never hear it!!
Hehe it is if the fan curve is left on "auto" then its almost silent for sure, but when its sat to run at 100% it sounds like its ready for take off :)

Ok never had it at 100% yet, 75% tops I think (custom fan profile), my card never reaches 60 degrees while gaming. (MSI GTX1070 though)

is yours a reference card too? may i know the brand and model no? THanks

It has IR3567B PWM controller. I did not flash yet as the BIOS'es here use different controller.

This Needs to go in this thread because sooner or later we are going to get "those Posts"

What voltage level do you have when running the "1450/2200mhz" preset?

I like how you are trying to troll in this post since page 1 (and in the featured newspost as well) and everyone keeps ignoring it.
Must have been the "The Way It's Meant to be Played"-tag in your profile that seems rather suspicious to most of us. Have yet to read something of substantial value from your part.

Topic: will try the 1411 on my XFX GTR in the next few days and report back in.

OK, the thing about PWM mismatch my be wrong. I have just flashed the BIOS in the first post to an AMD Reference RX 480 8 GB wit IR 3567B PWM controller and the card did not brick!

RX 480 to 580 BIOS flash.jpg

But the driver was not automatically installed. And I got a weird Hardware ID:

Code:
PCIVEN_1002&DEV_67DF&SUBSYS_E3661DA2&REV_E7
PCIVEN_1002&DEV_67DF&SUBSYS_E3661DA2
PCIVEN_1002&DEV_67DF&CC_030000
PCIVEN_1002&DEV_67DF&CC_0300

Will mess with drivers and etc tomorrow.

This is the card:

I maxed out "Core Voltage %", "Power limit %" & "Temp Limit" in Msi Afterburner. I dont know if the card really needs it to be maxed out or not, but im okay with ~58c while gaming and ~70c while benchmarking, so I never tried to getting the voltage lower.

MSI GAMING X 4GB ASIC 82% didnt work, flashed ok via tool in first post but image was fucked up, everything was double in WIN10, HDMI and displayport same. I am glad to flashed back successfully via this tool. (old MSI fw renamed to rx580.rom)

Flashing an 8GB bios on a 4GB card won't work, you'll get the screen artifacting/cut in half, with Windows not booting succesfully.
I've tried a few times in hope to obtain "free" additional 4GB vram as with some reference RX480, no luck though :)

I see :) Right. Is there 4GB 580 bios?

Like AdoredTV showed in his last review, decreasing voltages can actually help RX580 keep higher clocks more consistently.

I've experienced this as well in my card.
The clocks are more stable with as little voltage as you can give it.
If it starts to fail then raise the voltage a touch, but don't leave it high for no reason, could be hurting your overclocks

Anyone who managed to flash their cards having any issue while watching movie(black screen)? Do you able to use more monitors at the same time?

Because one of the tech site is warning about these issues.

I've got a XFX RX 480 Black Edition.. This card doesn't have a DVI output. I'm using 2 Display via DisplayPort. Are there any experiences with a setup like this? It's a "Reference RX480" with slightly higher core clock... I'm eager to try this out but currently don't have any easy solution to flash it back in case something goes wrong.

@cool_recep
Your device IDs seem legit, my unmodified RX 480 shows:
Code:
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_67DF&SUBSYS_94801682&REV_C7
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_67DF&SUBSYS_94801682
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_67DF&CC_030000
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_67DF&CC_0300

In my case 9480 is SubSystem ID & 1682 is SubSystem Vendor ID. So in your case it would be E366 is SubSystem ID & 1DA2 SubSystem Vendor ID.
