Been a while since we’ve posted on here. But saw you say you were getting a 1680 did it ever arrive and how did the install go?

I also have some thermal grizzly Conductonaut I used on my 7900 xtx and it significantly cooled it down! I had the very high temp hotspot issue that fixed it. But reason I mentioned it is I’m going to run a stress test on my 1680 with current paste and then use Conductonaut and see how much it cools it down.
Yes, it arrived few days after post ...
I'm using Zalman STC9 paste after years of MX4 since I noticed that MX4 disappeared after cca 1 year of use on two chips..
Max temp under 70C with almost summer conditions, Arctic 120mm tower, 4 pipes, 160W max CPU reported, but case is well ventilated.
4.2 GHz, stock volts, 50% drop (cca 1.23V all-core load).
It needs 1.3V for 4.4 stable, but 200MHz is not worth it for almost 0.1V increase ...
Apparently loves 1.7V PLL, needs 1.1V on NB to be 100% stable at 1866 MHz RAM.
No OC/Volt difference using 1.25 strap ...

Small Update I managed to get myself brand new RX 6700XT and so far everything working really smooth with my X79/Xeon 2697 V2 platform and actually my old MULE not bottlenecking that much this GPU at all even on lower res as 1080p but I usually playing on 4k/60Hz sometimes with FSR on sometimes without depends on the game and then GPU utilization is excellent.......

Good to hear as I'm also planning an update to 67/68 depending on CPU bottleneck (on 66 currently).
Did you maybe test perf difference with rebar on/off?

Here bellow you can see and compare results I did 4k Optimized Superposition test and 3d Mark Time Spy 1080p all in all in 4k GPU utilization is almost always around 98%-99% in 1080p really depends going up and down but it is probably somewhere around 90%-92% so when its working like this on my Xeon 2697 V2 (all cores 3,45Ghz)I can only guess for people who have 1680 V2 OC 4,5Ghz+ this means basically it will not be a bottleneck almost at all......
P.S.GPU is currently undervolted with an easy OC........

Hmmm....
If we extrapolate this results from 3,4 to 4,2 CPU MHz, than at 1080p RX6800 would be a perfect fit with XT maybe also a good fit for 1440p.

Have you installed rebar/sam module in BIOS?
I'll run some benchmarks tomorrow when I get home but RX6600 is not much of a challenge for our CPUs.
6700XT would be far more interesting...

No...is it possible to do that on X79?

Yes. Just search for "X79 rebar" and you'll find the procedure. Quite safe if you have dual bios (or something like ch341).
With original chipset (C600/601), we're stuck at 1GB rebar size.
Cheap Aliexpress 2011 boards can have full rebar size 'cause they use H81 (I think).
Our chipset has problems with above 4g decoding and it is disabled in bioses from all manufactures (I think x2).
But even with 1GB there should be healthy perf increase.
With rebar and nvme boot added to our systems, it is like a modern computer :)

Hmm could not find anything how to....I have Asus Sabertooth and I know I have above 4g decoding somewhere in bios options.....if you find site with explanation/procedure how to mod bios pls. let me know I am curios maybe I will try.....

Beware that ASUS has special procedure (of course), but everything is explained.

If above 4g works in your board, I'll take a look at that BIOS region if it can be transplanted.
MSI also has that option, but is hidden.
If enabled = no boot, as with other mfgs I looked at, but hope always exists :)

Edit: if you decide to try modifying your BIOS, I highly recommend you put nvme module also: for direct storage and general future use (OS).

1.8V is factory default. Out of four 3930k chips, only one worked correctly with low PLL, others preferred 1.85-1.9.
2667V2 also didn't like 1.7, but this 1680V2 seems to work better with low PLL ...
I might have been thinking of a different setting... Sorry.

2667V2 also didn't like 1.7
The one I have runs at 1.55v stock. So maybe it's a stepping thing?

AMD rewrote the UMD's for their RDNA drivers starting with 22.5 and left testing 22.7, so their d3d11 and opengl are much more performance on older systems.

Yeah I already have modded bios for NVME drives....here picture of my bios with option for 4g decoding

Hey I do not know where to find that uefi tool non-ne version as with version that I have do not open bios properly I will check later or if you know how to do this mod I can send you my bios file and you can add this option....

Do you have UEFI Win install, no CSM?
If so, enable 4G and see if it correctly maps the memory.
I'll attach UEFITool when I'm home, but if 4G works correctly on Sabertooth, then I'll look at the BIOS for your board....

Ok I found and managed to mod the bios in uefitool also tried to use patch but seems like there is nothing to patch so I create a modded cap file on usb and now I flashed this bios...so here is the thing when I turn on above 4g decoding and when I disable CSM in bios I can only enter in bios otherwise getting black screen....also I tried only to turn on above 4g decoding and then I cant get even in bios...so I reflashed bios again....If you have any idea what is a fix for this let me know......

No patching needed, only module then use cmd executable and write value 10 (1GB) to UEFI. This works 100% without 4G.
Is your win install pure UEFI?
How does vanilla bios behave with 4g turned on?

Ok that seems like its working I checked with Gpu-Z and here is the pic attached bellow.....Question can I put bigger value then 10(1Gb) I dont know maybe 20-30 is it going to work as long if is it bellow 4g?
Also as I remember Vanilla bios behaved same with 4g turned on........

It won't work since address space is needed for other devices.
Only way to see if vanilla 4g works or not is by viewing memory space in device manager.
But, for now, can you run timespy or unigine to see changes?

Edit:
Also check if rebar option is enabled in Radeon settings...

Ok first of all THX a lot for all help @ZOX ....also yes Rebar option is now enabled in radeon settings I run quick 3d Mark Time Spy and Tomb Raider benchmark and YES results are a bit better in Tomb Raider 4k benchmark I gained 1 FPS from 59 to 60 and in time spy I also have a bit better results for 100+ points...so seems like everything works as it should be, my only problem was that I needed to tweak my OC settings all over again in bios but thats a minor issue.....I will check some other benchmarks later and let you know if the results are also better......

Ok quick update.......Seems like that in certain apps like:Superposition,Heaven,Firestrike when Rebar is ON in radeon settings it does not work good at all FPS are really low and soon when I turn Rebar off in radeon setting those apps works again totally fine....any idea why?

OK, so ...
What driver version are you using?
Any 23. branch I tried put Apex fps (only game I play) down to 40 from 144+ at 1440p
I assumed blame lies on my MorePowerTools settings since 22.11.2 works fine.
Maybe newer driver has issues with SAM on our platform ...
Try to switch to 22.11.2 and if that solves your problems, we should alert AMD ...

Maybe newer driver has issues with SAM on our platform ...
Try to switch to 22.11.2 and if that solves your problems, we should alert AMD ...
I am using latest 23.5.2....so yeah maybe that's the problem I will try that tomorow....I also tried to put 512mb rebar size and it's the same thing...it's just strange that games like SOTR,3Dmark time spy working fine and actually better but games like War Thunder or Unigine heaven,Fire Strike are just horrible like 10-15FPS and soon when I turn Off rebar in Radeon Settings and restart they working fine......

Make sure you use DDU and disable automatic driver update before. (or just unplug for this test).
Just tried it again to make sure I'm not losing my mind, but it is repeatable with 2023.
