I think comparison between BD and SB-E is a fail comparison. Compare BD to LGA1155 SB instead. Platform costs between the two are identical, the chips themselves will be priced to be competitive with LGA1155 Core processors.

We aren't comparing SB-E vs BD performance-wise, we are comparing them either as the most likely to fail or be a failure in the future, or which is more of a fail so far...

I know that. My point is Bulldozer is destined to fail because AMD fans look at it as the second coming of Athlon64 "Hammer", with even its $90 models outperforming $1000 Intel processors. That's not going to happen. What can happen is BD being very competitive with LGA1155 SB processors. A $225 FX-8xxx outperforming a $320 Core i7-2600K in both multi and single-threaded workloads? Now that doesn't seem far fetched.

Agreed, though I think the comparison would be more with the 2500K. That's the thing though, BD might not bring anything new to the market, just AMD version of SB, probably at a similar price, so their potential to be awesome is greatly diminished. Then IB is supposed to come soon, and even if SB may get the upper hand on SB, IB will be there to take it right back!

Voted for Politicians. Politicians in our country are epic fails. :shadedshu

Sandy Bridge-E and Bulldozer can't fail until they release. It would be premature to say they failed now. :p

Politicians are always "fail" though. Doesn't matter who you are nor where you are from, there's always something to hate about them. XD

Again, we can say how much fail the project has been so far (ie: pushed dates and no info for BD) or how likely they are to fail (ie: early benchmarks aren't impressive for SB-E)

SB-E can handle up to four processors...
LGA771 -> LGA1366 -> LGA2011

If you're not prepared to blow a massive wad of cash, LGA2011 isn't for you.

AMD is never forthcoming with information. The only exception to that rule was the overhyping of Phenom and, if memory serves, someone got fired for it.

LGA 1366 wasn't that expensive if ou had a MC beside you! You can easily get yourself a respectable CPU + Mobo + RAM combo for < 500$ to 550$, and if you didn't have MC, then ~600$. Now, used you could get it a cheap-ass one at 300$, or 400~450$ new. For the CPU + Mobo, the price only went down 50ish$! LGA 1155 is around that 400~425$ as well.

While lga 2011 will be expensive, it won't be TOO bad. Prices of RAM have been very low lately, not to mention you could possibly re-use your RAM. There are apparently going to be Mobos starting under the 200$ mark (something like 179$). CPU might be a little bit expensive though. Nevertheless, if you were going to go high-end mainstream, perhaps low-end enthusiast might be another option.

Sounds about right. I would thank you but it would break my 1337'ness.

Is it fail-whale fishing season already ?

Or is it rich bastard who profits from the politicians :p

Yay I'm not a fanboy? or Aww shit I'm not a rich bastard :nutkick:

Chinese Politicians hands down. :nutkick:

was a tie between BD and the politicians, then I looked at my 401 k and the choice was clear politicians!

Did anyone else watch her new show? The part where they weren't on a real boat was pretty fail. Also she wasn't topless.

Politicians. SMG is a good looking woman, no amount of stupid series (altough I've never seen it) can change the fact that she has tits.

They are all fail but I voted for Bulldozer. Its EPIC fail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm an AMD fan and I'm not looking at it that way. I am looking for the new price/performance king and I honestly believe AMD will deliver that.

Come on. The politicians are more epic fail then Bulldozer. It is at least Thuban slow and sometimes faster depending on what you're running.

Mean while the politicians in DC don't even listen to their constituents. That's such an epic fail, that its fails at being epic. It's kind of like a reverse black hole, or something. No body is really sure what it means.

You can add this to your spank bank, mailman.

My avi didn't give it away?

I know, but even without your avatar I can tell that you're a hardcore AMD fan; and look at your number of posts since you joined, remarkable. :toast: :pimp:
