Guide to Radeon X800/X850 bios modding

alright thanks. right now i have it clocked at 535/551 and it is idling around 43C, but i have the fan on 'silent mode' which is only 4v instead of 12v, normal speed is almost double 'silent' mode. would you recommend running on normal mode?

With 535/550MHz you can flash X850XT BIOS. Without voltmods that is your maximum.

flashing to x850xt would benefit me how exactaly?

right now im running the x850pro bios w/16pipes unlocked.

ok, i just wanted to know what the difference between the two is.

recommend running on normal mode/for sure ..that should move your idle temp to 30c and your load temp to 50/55c @ those clocks if true then try the xtpe clocks:D :D
flashing to xt bios will have card run at those speeds from boot up there is also a minor tweek in timeings but you prob wont notice;)

i need someone to tell me if im stuck with ddr2 or not.

mycard.JPG--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

can someone tell me what bios i can use with that. its a gecube x800gto 256ddr2 pcie.

is it unlockable by just modifying the bios into a new one using rabit?

Yes it can be moded to 16 pipe X800GTO, X800XT, X800XT PE or even to X850XT or X850XT PE (only recognized like X850 and with the X850 type Overdrive tab - for that you need special moded BIOS which I have created). Be carefull with the X800XT BIOS and ensure that it is for PCI-E. If your card is VIVO than use X800XT PCI-E BIOS to unlock to 16 pipes and then test for max. core/memory with ATITool. Post the results later on.

Flash in DOS mode using:

atiflash -f -p -newbios 0 x800xt.bin

Success

I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether or not I could get 16 pipelines out of this, here are my fuse settings from ATiTool. It's AGP if that makes a difference at all.

Device ID 4A49
Chip name R420
CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xFFF3EFFF
CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xFFFFFF1E
CONFIG_ROM_FUSES 0x20
GB_PIPE_SELECT 0x6E48

here is a link to my bios(original - untouched).
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Bah tis a shame. Oh well it's very nicely OC'd so that will just have to hold me for now, lol. Thank you for your reply.

(My ati tray tools version is: 1.2.6.940) A friend told me about using rivatools to see if my card has unlockable pixel pipepines but im not sure if it will work on my card. Any help would be apriciated. I dont want to just try it and loose a card that cost $165 :nutkick: I already used trixx 4 times autoclock. I had to install omega driver because before that on just the desktop the screen would go black randomly. ( Radeon Omega Drivers 3.8.330 (Catalyst 7.1) ) Then it was fixed but so the game doesnt crash I uninstalled it in windows device manager restarted and installed the driver meant for my card ( 7-1_xp_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_40211.exe )I searched for on radeon's website.

Unfortunately your card won't unlock to 16 pipes. But it should overcklock pretty well.

perminant oc how

Now im using trixx. I already used autoclock 4 times and fixed the desktop random blackness with omega driver on a fresh OS install then put back the correct driver in the os after setting up. Now im using the temp oc in trixx but when I choose extreme each time it has to find the gpu and memory frequency and takes about 8 minutes to do so. Which ap would you recomend to do all this without needing to wait so long? Maybe I can copy the values and put inside some manual oc ap*? I think I can still use trixx because they have a manual setting but is there a better ap you would recomend?

Actualy I want to go HD because I have a good card and also use it with a ps3 I will be getting but I have no idea where to start.

I would recommend to find stable clocks using ATITool. After that to edit the BIOS and to set at minimum 10MHz lower clock for the core and 15-20MHz lower clocks for the memory. Set them in the BIOS and flash that BIOS to your card. Have fun ;) .

I copyed the trixx max settings

Heres trixx max settings: core clock 491.46 memory clock 573.94 fan %100 and do I just follow the tut in the beginning of the forum?

You can set 475MHz on the core and 550MHz on the memory at custom BIOS and to flash it.

another prob

Another problem is omega driver I put on a fresh install to stop the desktop from going all black; it fixed the problem but many of my games are crashing after about 30 minutes or an hour. How should I fix this? I'm thinking this old driver cant handle some of the newer games.

temps

Temp with everest
Before:

Temperatures:

Motherboard 30 °C (86 °F)

CPU 43 °C (109 °F)

Aux 39 °C (102 °F)

WDC WD2500JD-75HBB0 42 °C (108 °F)

After 3 hours:

Temperatures:

Motherboard 36 °C (97 °F)

CPU 53 °C (127 °F)

Aux 48 °C (118 °F)

WDC WD2500JD-75HBB0 50 °C (122 °F)

This time I used rivatuner not trixx to overclock. BF2 and 2142 are next to test :wtf: I know this has nothing to do with pixelunlocking.
