Hi There
Have any One have succes doing a Hardmod on the Lazer cut
on a R481chip? in order to enable the extra 4 Pipe?
Tks in advance
Keep up the great Work Dolf ...

In principle it is not problem to succeed with R481, R420 or R423 but it is very important the configuration of the other bridges (they are 11) and only 2 of them are situated on the front side of the core ;) . Only in the beggining of the production of R420 it was possible because the "good" 16 pipe cores were scanty and for the X800PRO ATI have used 16 pipe R420s. But it was over and just in the end of the "live cycle" of the X800/X850 Series the ATI partners started to sale the remaining 16 pipe cores like 12 pipe cards :) . But some cores are just deffective and should be installed on lower class cards.

Hey Dolf,

I have a Saphire X800GTO, AGP, VIVO, Blue PCB. I have already unlocked

my extra 4 pipes via your "800pro auto-flash utility". Flashed to

800XT :). Card OC's to 560/600 rock solid thanks to the GREATNESS

of the Zalman vf900-cu and some AS Ceramique...44C fully loaded :)

heres the rub...

....go to flash to X800XT PE via same utility...gives me the clock

speeds but WITH ONLY 4 PIPES?!?!?!

no clue.. have yet to try another X800xtpe bios, thought i would

ask you first...:)
heres pertinent info....

CORE: (420?) .............................. MEMORY: 1.6
215RADCGA12F ............................. Samsung 504
GG3528-1 ................................... K4J55323QF-GC16

Taiwan .....................................PCB:
Radeon X800 ................................109A26130-01

FUSES:
0xEFF7FFFF
0xFFFFFF9F
0x20

...I thought only the R480 core could reach 560...??

Thx so much already....wouldnt of made it this far..:)

You have to reinstall the drivers after flashing to XT PE and probably the ATITool. If you still have 4 pipes ??? post the fuse values just to see why. But probably it is software problem than something else.

Allright, very interesting topic.

A friend of mine has an XpertVision X800GTO with Samsung 1.4ns memory. It also shows "X850" on the core. My guess is that it is an R481, but AtiTool shows it as R420. The extra pipes are laserlocked, but the point at the moment is to get a nice overclock out of it.

I'm seeing people with 1.6ns memory reach the same result as this card with 1.4ns memory, shouldn't 1.4ns have some advantage over 1.6ns memory?

Stock clocks were 400/490, and it now runs at 530/630 with a Zalman VF-700 on it plus ramsinks. I looked at some of the timings that people with 1.6ns memory had, and they are exactly the same as the timings for this card with 1.4ns. I have been thinking about raising the MEM_TRP from 6 to 7, would this be useful or would it have a negative effect?

Any other comments or questions are also welcome.

hmm, didnt try reinstalling AtiTool. will clean drivers and AtiTool reflash and try again.

FUSES:
CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xEFF7FFFF
CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xFFFFFF9F
CONFIG_ROM_FUSES 0x80420
GB_PIPE_SELECT 0x3FE4

...need to search for original bios disk.
but the card loves its new X800XT status and its 4 new shiney pipes..

thx

reinstalling atiTool did the trick...

thanks again...your info has been invaluable.

one last question if i could??

did i just luck out??? i thought for sure...(well was told everywhere) that a R420 core could not reach 560..let alone this stable.... any thoughts??

thnx agn

Maybe you got lucky and you have AtiTool reading it as R420 core, but it actually is a R481 core. I have some pictures here also to proof it, your card might be the same:

http://picasaweb.google.nl/andersdoggen/X800GTOMod

I'm still waiting for someone to answer me about the question above though. But I'll look at this topic tomorrow again.

looking at those pics i am pretty sure i have an R420 core ...just a good one.

thanks for the link, nice to know the R481 cores hae an X850 still stamped on the core...hmmm unless someone knows otherwise ill just accept my R420 .....lovingly.

as to yours dont know timmings just yet ...but id say your 630 is exceptional if it were 1.6ns ....maybe its just not great oc 1.4.

Definitely you have R420 (the fuses tell that). And it is not strange because R420 has almost the same clocks rate like R481 (my X800XT reached 570MHz while my X850XT PE only 560MHz). Practicaly they are one and the same thing but the yield of R481 is much better. The problem with the R420 was too small number of good 16 pipes cores.

So would you have any tips for me Dolf? It looks like you know what you are talking about :toast:

Raise MEM_TRP for higher memory oc? Might try that but I don't want the card to crash or something...

TRP could help for 10% more overclock but also couldn't in some cases. It deppends on the memory chips. If you don't have problem with the memory speed just leave it as it is.

Allright, going to try to look for the maximum core speed soon. Wonder where I can get from 530/630 with R481 core. I think it's safe to say that it will at least reach 570 core?

Hi,

I' m new here and have a question concerning my Palit/Xpert Vision R X850XT 256MB DDR3 DVI/TV AGP.

Is it possible to flash this Card to 850XT PE?
With ATI Tool I can set it to 570/585 MHz - without Problems, but there are a few
things i would like to know before doing this.

At the moment I'm not able to get information about the temperature of my GPU! Isn't there a sensor on this card or
is this option only disabled in my BIOS? (I'm thinking about installing an other fan.)

When opening BIOSfile with rabit 2.2.1 (created with ATI-Tool 0.26) I get the following message:
"Warning: BIOS CRC is incorrect!"

I tried to save it a few times but always with the same result.
When clicking "OK" I get information about my card but I'm not sure whether i can work with this file or not.

When comparing my BIOS with other Cards from different manufacturers I noticed two differences:

Memorytimings and the entry "Multimedia Table" is missing (Rabit-> Logging)

The memorychips of my card are labeled with:

Samsung 616
K4J55323QG BC14

ELCO57AE

If it is possible to enable temperature monitoring and perhaps flashing to 850XT PE (any performance "boost"?)
could anyone edit my BIOS? I have no experience in this!

Thanks!

P.S.: English isn't my native language - sorry - Deutsche Antworten wären also auch i.O.! ;-)

Can you help me? Sorry, i don't understand anything about programming with a hex editor. I have a X800GTO, on the gpu read's:
Radeon X850
215RAGCGA11F
GH1696.1
9547AAY
Taiwan

The card should sold me as Palit/Xpertvision X800GTO, the bios has "Gammagraphx" as vendor.

I'm needing the additional 4 pipes, for "security" reason additional a little more speed at the gpu/mem (if possible), but nothing what will cause a damage to the card! And a "renaming" in the cards bios, that she is shown as X850...
Thx :toast:

Unfortunately your card will remain with only 12 pipes. Flashing of the BIOS can't help. Just overclock it to the maximum.

Will flashing do any good?
I'm not even sure if this is the original firmware, or someone has tampered.. :)

You can forget about software voltage control (core/memory) on X800/X850 series  .

I have an X800GT ICEQ II Turbo from HIS

My problem:

I flashed my card with an Modded X800GT BIOS (16 pixelpipelines and R480)

Now is my card an X800GTO with 8 pixelpipelines :-(
Whats the problem of my card (I need 12 or better 16 pixelpipelines)?

Here are some facts (from Everest):
