How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

nope, still doesnt work. i believe i will try the hal.dll on another xp, on my second HDD, deactivated on boot, but working when i need it. so i dont break the 1 os rule.

man... that pisses me of... why cant things work easily, when you need it?

I will have a SLI bridge soon so i can give that a try maybe that will help. Use another HDD to test things on that is what i did

i got it to work! you have to use the hal file for winxp 32bit, its located at the end of the page, only 130 kb big i believe, ONLY the hal.dll

it shows x58 now, but SLI wont work, even with an unmodded 185.16

I just got an email from Biostar saying that they can't fix their broken TA790GX-128M boards with a bios update.

(they tried to save money on PCIE switching ICs by using a hard-wired design that can only detect x2 identicle ATI cards)

so with no chance of SLI on my new system I have gone over to the dark side:

hate to break it to you but its possible to get it to see 2 nvidia cards i got mine to see both of them by covering some of the pins on the video card so it would show as a 4x card. In turn it runs as 4x 2.0 so its alittle slower while the other runs in 8x 2.0 but with overclocking the PCI-E bus speed by 20mhz in the bios it makes it just as fast

its clearly a gem. never had such an extremely good stock overclocker. POS needed a voltmod for power like this, keep that in mind!
the BFG OC on the smaller Stock cooler clocks worser,tho
i will try to fit a twin turbo to it tomorrow

the BFG OC is the card that i have and the same as the card i have on the way(giving me a total of 3 8800GT's) what card is it that clocks so damn good?

Actually, mine would do 730/linked/1050 stock. It's a damn shame I cooked that card. It was a real jem.

the EVGA AKIMBO, which uses a big blower design, a little similar to the 48xx and 58xx radeons
its very quiet, and also features a passive cooler, that acts as backplate, and also cools the backside of the gpu with a big thermal pad.
perfect card. if he had another, i would take it

I will give you a bios that will push the BFG higher. Its the one i am using on all of my 8800GT's all of them get higher then that on the core and shaders after the flash. DON'T try it on the EVGA don't want to risk hurting its sick clocks

np, as long it dont gets bricked the evga i wont touch, not even its cooler. its perfect as it is

OCP mod and VOLT mod I take it?

I Vmodded my 8800GT to reach a nicely 800/2000 across the core, but OCP kicked in over 1.3v and needed more cooling to keep the temps tame.

I do. That card was a beast. I can't imagine what it would fold like if I still had it. lol.

I loved my Pencil modded 8600GT's - 900 core and 1936 shaders was a whole heap of speed for G84, stock was 540/1190
