How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

Need help with crosshair iv and 2x460's

I'm currently running.
  • AMD 965
  • Asus crosshair IV Formula with bios 1102
  • TT Evo_Blue 750w
  • W7 Home Premium x64
  • the 2x460's are in the first and 3rd slots.
  • so there running Dual @16x, and I'm not using an SLI bridge.
i think that's all i really need to say.

okay, I've been trying to get SLI to work with my XFX GTX460 1GB and my Asus DirectCU 1GB (has a custom bios flashed to it and i sorta lost the original...)
i have tried the following
  • Enabling ACPI 2.0
  • Uninstalling drivers (260.99)
  • Booting into safe mode and ran driver sweeper
  • Reinstalling the drivers (260.99)
  • installing the SLI Patch 1.0_Final
  • checked NV CP to see if i can enable.
and nothing :banghead:

and suggestions guys?

you need the cable. not using the bridge only works on certified SLI boards

So, tried every combination of driver that works for the 580's and every SLI patch and was never able to get "Enable SLI" :banghead:

I saw a few others were attempting SLI in the Intel S5520SC board - just wondering if anyone ever had any luck...

server boards it's not the same case as in non-server mobo. i'm working on windowed mode issue. when i finished we'll think about your case

New BSOD while runing 3dMark11 (v260.99 + v1.0)

http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/4296/bsod10.jpg

This is the first time I get this error type

Just to inform and try to help this great project ;)

Kind Regards!!!

i also get a ntoskrnp BSOD from time to time, totally randomly... sometimes its gone for weeks, and and sometimes its there, 3 days in a row... until now i rooted out eventual instabilities i guess, but that BSOD is like a rarely occuring ghost;)
i dont know if the patch is to blame tho, it can be a problem of the board also, even tho i dont know that exactly

You need SLI bridge to get it works.

when you get this BSOD?

when you get this BSOD?

mostly when im surfing around, but the exact moment is indefined, it crashes from time to time during various tasks, not forseeable... the BSOD also only one time occured during a game, and as said, general stability doesnt seem to be the problem here... i tested it in different win7 installs, different clocks, volts, on SSDs, on HDDs.
Several runs of memtests, 50 runs of linpack, gaming each day, the most different games, with hardly any crashes, just occasionally, and then, it are always different bsods than the ntoskrnp
i cant figure out the error im having, not even after about a year, but it runs relatively reliable, and i wont argue if the error persists. :)
as said, it can be that there is something about my board, but if thats the case, im not entirely sure what causes it

if i recall correctly, i never had problems in windowed mode, with SLI, even tho i spent little there. But everytime i did it, it worked flawlessly;)

Note*** Also, with patch (Final) installed, even though no SLI is available, get sporadic BSOD's.... Running Win 7 64bit.

Going to try most recent "bug-fixed" Final.... not very hopeful though... thinking I am just SOL with the S5520SC board....

with which drivers? what your system specs?

i think, since the beginning, when i first got the hack, from all different hack versions i had, and all drivers, i never had problems with windowed mode.

Specs are under my name behind that blue Linky, i mention it here again tho, for simplicity :)
I have a Foxconn A7DA-S 3.0 790GX with an Evga and a BFG 8800 GT in SLI, on Win7 x64 that config seemed to be really flawless in common till now... when other people had bugs, i hardly had them :)

what drivers you use now?

hmmm just a buig report. I thank you for the efforts!

p7p55d
win 7 x64
2x GTX260's

pci-e 1 @16x
pci-e 2 @4x (Max for board)

tried 265.xx with 1.0 nothing

tried 260.xx with 1.0 nothing

tried 260.xx with .9b nothing

tried with 1 and 2 sli cables (with the 1 being moved from connectors 1&2 to 2&4 before trying 2 all 3 options to no avail)

I just cant get it. tried fresh installs of the drivers etc. GPU-z says disabled and nvcp simply says physx with no SLI option.

the second pcie is most probably connected to the NB via the southbridge, therefore it is only x4 most times, and doesnt get recognized.
Anatolymik mentioned once they could trick the driver in working with boards built like this, but i dont know if he has ever brougt it to its end. you may have to ask him yourself, if you want answers, i guess ;)

i figured that was part of the problem but was wishful in my thinking their both pci-e 2.0 so the 4x probably wont hurt that much.

any ideas for my particular problem? running 265.90's currently with modded INF and new 1.0 patch.

Hi Anatolymik, is there a way to just mod the driver like in the old 190.62, personaly a prefer this method so i would like to mod the 260.99, Thanks for your help, your work and forgive my english.
