I'm kinda running low on them... I've been playing Bioshock (the first one) for a few days now (it ain't doing it for me) , and I got Battlefield 2142 from Goodwill just so it can tell me that the CD key is in use (I'm not going to spend $10 more to get a new one), and I really feel like shooting something nowadays.

Anywho anything with good multiplayer and decent graphics'll make me happy, and the freer the better.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 for $29.99 on steam is worth it on both fronts and will go beyond what your PC can handle depending on resolution and settings, but is still worth it . Farcry @ gog.com (good old games, they should still have it...might not tho...). Team Fortress 2 off of steam, the graphics are cartoony, but the action and extras are excellent. Borderlands is entertaining for sure for around $30.

Expect to get what ya pay for...most cheap games are either old or not content full...you wanna go much free-er then it'll be a topic that isn't allowed to be discussed here. I understand a budget for gaming though...gog.com is a good place to go for that. Half Life 2 kicks ass on Steam, and should be cheap. CoD4 Modern Warfare should be cheap by now and was very fun in it's heyday. Battlefield 2 should still be hopping, at least more than 2142. You have tons of options, just depends on what you're after.

There's TF2 at half-price on Steam, and that's a good war-themed hat simulator. It is also a shooter.

Also Midway's (2005) Area 51 was released for free a couple years ago. Don't know if it still applies, better google it.

Alien Swarm, although not a fps,is a fine shooter, available for free at Steam. It's also got multiplayer and achievements. Very nice.

The Suffering is also available online for free, same deal as Area 51.

Some more shooters, all of them free(most are multiplayer-only):

War Rock
Quake Live
Battlefield Heroes
Alien Arena
Urban Terror
Nexuiz
Full Spectrum Warrior
Tribes Next
Tremulous
Combat Arms

*EDIT*

Oh, and MechWarrior 4
Yeah, not an fps, but...

I would have recommended BF2, still by far the best multiplayer shooter on PC...But I don't think you would get satisfactory performance from it on your rig. BF BC2 would just be silly.

Far Cry 1 is still a brilliant and quite large 1 player shootemupfest, and should run ok on your machine.

farcry 1 has multiplayer...

Left 4 Dead 1 & 2

You've had some good suggestions on here hellrazor, now allow me to add mine. :)

Unreal Tournament & Unreal Tournament 2004. Both games are still awesome (I still play them lots) and are dirt cheap now. You can now pick them up DRM free :rockout: on www.gog.com or on Steam, which has account-based DRM. I have Steam and it does work very well.

Also, any game made by Valve ie Half-Life 1 & 2, Left 4 Dead etc is excellent and available on Steam only.

Metro 2033 is really good, as is Cod4 and the others.

There's a version of Quake that now runs in your browser - google it - and is now completely free. It looks quite good, too.

For 10 bucks you can't beat TF2, no matter what games I play I always get sucked back into it. The L4D pack would also be good for you, a lot of members regularly play online.

Check out Return to Castle Wolfenstein if you haven't already tried it. It's old, but then again, so are vintage wines.

Woah, that's a huge list....

So Farcry has been suggested more than a few times, I actually do have Return to Castle Wolfenstein in my closet *facepalm*, I've thinking about getting Borderlands and/or Team Fortress 2 but I haven't been to any place that sells them in a while (I need to take a trip to Fry's anyways :P), and I'll see if I can't get my hands on Half-Life 2.

TF2 is a Valve game, always on Steam, and I thought it was on sale recently. Borderlands is also on Steam, but that might be a bit more expensive and cheaper to find used.

The Left 4 Dead games went on sale today for 66% off. For just over $10 you can play 2 of the most awesome FPS put out in the last 2 years.

Check steampowered.com

Seeing mention of L4D, I got to mention Killing Floor, I'm not sure what the price is now, I got it for $5 when it was on sale, and I ended up liking it much more than L4D2.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Map Packs - both of them are half price on Steam until 11OCT10. Note that you must have the game already to use these...

I wouldn't normally buy DLC, but it looks like good value at this price.

f.e.a.r is free and you can download it free two play on line its old school now tho but free
lots noobs on that game shot up lol

I just went to the Killing Floor website, that looks really good (you have no clue how long I've been trying to find a good zombie game with dual pistols).

Imma go see if I can't get the Left 4 Deads on Steam .

Not only Dual Pistols, but Dual Deagles. KF is a great game.

Quake III, still the best Deathmatch experience out there.

Anyone still play HL: Deathmatch? I think it's free on Steam to nvidia owners. I have it and I would play it but noone on my steam friends ever plays it. Haven't touched it because of that.
