NVIDIA Removes Restriction on ATI GPUs with NVIDIA GPUs Processing PhysX

EDIT : and btw btanur should update the news

the guy's fast, its already updated. i would've preferred it this way: "Nvidia, trolling with removing restriction..."

Oh they will, they will. This is Nv we are talking about here. ;)

I wish they would have allowed it. I guess we will continue to just modify a few files to make it work. It is against their own interest to do it but I guess they are ok with that. Is it the choice of the CEO or the board of directors/majority stock holders? If a company chooses to go against pursuing profit it will hurt their own company and stock holders which will ideally get the people who make those decisions fired. That is unless they aren't pursuing profit in that segment anymore and just making it a value added feature for their platform of graphics not allowing card mismatching. Still it is against their best interest and their company will be affected with decreased profits.

Maybe I thought their management was smarter than they in fact are. I do give people too much credit sometimes.

So being a dooshy ATI purist and all I guess I won't be buying a new Nvidia gpu for physx but I will still try this out with a used card. Intentional or not Nvidia still gave us newer drivers to play with, and whether or not they planned this there will be an increase in G92 sales either new GPUs or second hand. Nvidia still opened the door for us.

LoL. why are people getting a stiffy for physx, all it is good for is trying, then you will soon realize what a waste of time, energy and heat a physx card is and subsequently remove it form your system. :toast:

By accident apparently. Either way "bug" or not, there's a way to do it. :)

haha...
even before waiting on the next WHQL driver release, it's been updated that this is a bug.
too bad nv, I already downloaded those beta drivers with 'bug'

nv are really just making more people mad at them :nutkick:

THEY HAD TO U KNOW IT. NO SECRET SHOWS its band rule number 1 bitches lol

also....That open physics initiative is as serious as the 3D one. They cant stop it with this. OPEN OPEN OPEN. Theres still too much (little) money in phyx and gaming all together for it to stop sorry.

I'm currently running two 5850's with a GT 240 for PhysX just fine. Going to pick up Batman tonight. :) What tests do you guys need done?

You don't happen to have a more powerful nVidia card also? Basically the argument is that a card like the GT 240 or 9600GT is going to be slower then a more powerful card, and there seems to be a sticking point that 128-bit vs. 256-bit memory bus makes a difference in PhysX. So maybe if you had a 9800GT to compare with the GT 240 it would be perfect since your graphics setup is one of the most powerful around.:toast:

So whats the best/affordable single slot nvidia physx solution to put with my ATi HD4870x2?

yea just tested them and have been updated as well no physx, seems hard to find the ones from earlier now.

Ok now I am out of the market. Damn you Nvidia. Such a cock tease.

For all of the bitching about how physx sucks and is "useless" These threads sure do generate A LOT of interest

Well it pretty much is. But its still something to F@#k with and this is an enthusiast site after all.

You do understand that even if a game uses Physx it doesn't necessarily use hardware Physx. Very few games do. Maybe 15? So yeah its pointless in practicality. Its just fun to play with in benches and such.

I was just saying ............... :toast:

It's just the irony

MAILMAN !!!!!!!!!!! you stole my birth day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bah. When i saw this story i figured i would grab a Nvidia card from newegg to give PhysX a try. Oh well thanks for the update, just saved me a few bucks. I guess if you use an AMD card as your primary card Nvidia doesn't want your business.

which is kinda wierd if you ask me, they make motherboards for amd, why not make physx cards for amd as well.
