Yep the creative software suite is pants. I'm surprised its actually working for me lol :D not that it really helps, in 30 days itll commit suicide.

lol i detect a large quantity of sarcasm there!

there is no any point me waiting for creative to fix the software coz itll likely never happen so ill just stick to the realtek stuff thats basic bare min

random piece of advice: the xfi driver doesn't work on realtek HDMI audio that comes with ATI video cards, dont try it.

Well ain't that quaint.. I just found something rather interesting out......*trails off*

so it wont for example work with a onboard hdmi on an amd chipset? like the 790gx?

i tried it on my 780G (onboard radeon 3200) and got a BSOD for my troubles.

it says no supported hardware found, when running the creative app... unless your PM fixes that too, in which case plz PM me a download link a little smaller than the source file.

P.S i found a list of supported hardware in one of the files

I'd like to chime in that this worked great for me with a less than a week old install of Server2008 x64 and the realtek 889A chipset. It is recognized as Realtek X-Fi in device manager now, and I have a noticeable increase in sound quality.

I have many mp3s on my machine and I'd be very interested in trying the Crystalizer, so if you get that going in Vista x64, I'd be happy to test it out for you!

I'll look into that tomorrow, which file did you find the info in? Shouldn't be too hard to put right, just a case of adding the device ID.

ED - just quickly tried reinstalling the ATi HDMI R2.03 driver, installed fine, no BSOD.

hardware list was under HADetect/pid.cab/HASdell.ini

I'm looking into third party modded files for Xfis (the audigy to Xfi mods) in case i can find working software there. unforutnately i cant afford to waste downloads trying every package, as i'm a poor australian with a download limit.

ED - I am a clever computer user, I take NO responsibility for anything. I've done this simply to prove a point.

just wanted to chime in saying that I got drivers to work on vista 64bit. I plan on installing them on my HTPC also. so far so good. If you can pm me with any apps that will work with vista 64bit that would be awesome. I would love to test them out.

so who does? i dont want to get into trouble with the forums or get them into trouble
nevermind i changed it to suit everyone

these drivers do nothing usefull over the stock realtek drivers under vista64, the cp apps do not work, they either refuse to install due to "lack of supported hardware" or they refuse to run for the same reasion.

These do not improove audio quility over the bumb stock realtek drivers, anybody saying they do is either experianceing the placebo effect OR has been using old ass realtek drivers and is hearing the diffrance that realtek themselves have made.

Ket if you want to get these working on vista heres a leigal FREE way to do that.

Server 2008(aka vista sp1 server) trial.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/trial-software.aspx
and
http://www.win2008workstation.com/wordpress/
http://converter.win2008workstation.com/

also you can get a valid MAK key from dreamspark with ease.

if your serious about making this work for people, then test on the os most geeks and gamers are moving to, thats now vista(server 2008 is just vista sp1 without all the pre-installed "bloat" )

well enjoy, i really dont see the value of these unless he can get the creative apps workin

Seems I get the same as every one else (on vista 32).
Shows as realtek x-fi but no creative apps work even the ones in the driver pack.
Thanks for getting the new drivers to work! :)

Wow, these driver's are awesome, I never knew my onboard sound could sound so good, I can tell a big difference! Thanks Ket!:respect: BTW, these work perfectly on XP 64, along with the X-Fi MB utility.

the drivers do sound good and i had the latest drivers too 2.16

so unless 2.17 was a major improvement i am experiencing better sound quality and the drivers installed first time after a full uninstall of the older ones i had

Worked on Windows 7. My Appsetup.exe from my Xtrememusic didn't so no AudioCS :(

Obviously not as punchy as my Xtrememusic but even that required certain settings changed.

I got these burned onto 4 different CD's so if these get taken down due to legal action just PM me if you don't have them yet.
