I wonder where were the mods at when tons of people poured down hate on miners. Sure some posts got deleted here and there but not enough. Many post still got through on "die miners die".

No different than the political stuff, modders will continue to get better over time, and people who make mistakes like myself will correct them or get banned eventually, simple as that. I wouldn't worry about it, enjoy the site, let the people who want to risk getting banned get banned eventually. Everyone deserves a second/third chance though, probably not a 4th.

Not to that extreme but I'm guilty of that.... I got over it and then I spent $250 more for a graphics card than I should have...

I agree. I think some moderators have the idea that closing everything down is the same thing as moderation, which it certainly is not. Like we have done here at TPU for many years now, we should continue to moderate the people/posts that need moderation. I will continue to moderate in this way. If you feel your thread has been improperly shut down, please feel free to contact me. Don't I'm no longer moderating here. It's been fun.

Thank you.
What the hell??!!!

It's a sad day for TPU.

I agree with ERocker @ Post 33 too, although I do think that some of you may be confusing in some cases why threads have been closed, it seems that some think they are closed solely because Mods want to filter/censor debate that may skirt around certain subjects where as a Moderator may feel that topics are moving quickly towards subject matter that clearly is against our guidelines (for example, Religion, Politics) and that's where Eric is spot on, if it's one or two of you crossing that line, action should be taken against those offenders and where applicable issue reply bans so as healthy debate can continue, although there are times where a fairly large number of members become involved, at which point it sometimes becomes an "unhealthy debate" where in the end a thread is closed to stop the rot so to speak.

I won't presume to speak for anyone else, but I am not here to censor, I am just here to ensure subject matter remains within the guidelines.

In TPU land mods are gods. Welcome to the real world son.

As someone whos seen a lot (I wont go into it) I can tell you this world is insane. Its when you try and argue the constructs of thousands of years of civilization and human nature does the world win. Play by the established rules and youll do way better.

Also burn everything. Fire is fun when you accept very few things matter.

Well said and cannot agree more.

When you study living organism from bacteria to mammals for 10+ years you will suddenly relize the rules are not just for several thound year of human civilization, but billions years of evolution. It is built into us, coded into our genomes. Would love to rant on but here is not the place. So I will just tell a joke.

In one of the course I taught over the years regarding human genetics, explaining how sex determination works in developing embryos by regulation of gene expression. Then got some angry undergrads in the class arguing with me that gender and sex is a social construct. So I just smiled and said: if they can prove their point with hardcore molecular genetics I will personally recommend them for Nobel prize. Unfortunately nothing exciting came after that.

Wasn't me...LOL
I was just saying the Mining thing put a lot of people into sticker shock...but like me most got over it....others still hate you and very much wish for your demise or financial ruin...lol

This thread goes along with my comment from the closed thread mentioned....all the way
I know it seems as though this sounds of bad taste...But people need to realize that other people are stupid...and as such they will always do stupid shit...This is going to hold true for YOU until your journey on this rock ends.
You don't have to respect others views but you should be respectful presenting yours...even when the stupid simply feel your view is an insult to them....that's gonna happen.
It's nice to have a 3rd party point of view to help sort things out...they're here because we need them...don't hate them for it.
It's called discretion for a reason...you don't have to like it.

Fair point, T. There's a lot of judgement calls to make in moderation and it can be a bitch when things kick off.

As I said above, I just wish more mods would give a reason when a thread is closed, eg "toxic" or whatever. I see you always write something when you close it and I do appreciate that. :) More mods should follow your example imho.

Erocker is done... gone... I don't blame him. I went from posting 20+ a day to almost 1 a week or less. This place is nothing like it once was and maybe its just me falling away but yea not fun to be here anymore. I will continue to crunch for TPU but will probably be distant.

Lighten up? How?

10 years ago we can have something like this in a front page TPU review

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Computex_2009/Girls/

Now? Try to post something like this as a forum post will probably earn you the title of "sexist racist bigot nazi homophobic hurt hurt feelings and etc" And that will also get locked up in no time.

This is not progressive, this is regressive.

Presumably by lightening up?

That's all my comment was asking for, and aparently even that is too much for the community right now, you seem more content to go into some side issue.

Have at it. See what your left with.
