W1z voted his preference, for anyone that is curious.
Yeah, saw that. He's hasn't chimed in though. Likely busy. However, he could be thinking about it and whether or not it would be useful. He may have already though about how to do it.
This entire thing is just an idea, that is all.
Exactly. There is no harm in exploring such through discussion.

The system specs is fine as-is, but I'd love to see the ability to have it show multiple builds in a better fashion than I currently do between system specs and my sig. Either way, I find the feature super useful and it's been a critical metric that folks here use to assist other members that are seeking help. Heck as I get busier and older, it's just nice to have a place to keep my system specs posted so that I know wtf I am running these days lol! :D

Yea, it'd be a weird thing to code in though.

Guess it could be setup like a tab system? "1/2/3" click the tab to see each system spec? lol.

if you cant be arsed using forward slashes then move on, seriously, no one aprt from you really cares what your 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th system are. 3rd world problems.

I always had only one system because i have 2 hands and one head so i can work on one atm, and i am not counting laptops or work PC.

Isn't it a good idea to put a list with all the Hardware available instead of just typing your system specs? you know for example how you select your CPU , GPU , RAM on Game debate.

I like the feature and believe it to be reasonably useful for the most part, but would it be possible to have it resemble or converted over to something similar to pcpartspicker's setup, where you just use drop downs to select your components, without the pricing/linking functions of course, and perhaps add a comment section where you can add a certain amount of info on mods, special features, additional parts etc ???
I feel like having more than 2 systems listed could add unneccessary complexity to what should be a K.I.S.S. feature....

However, I do realize this would probably involve a significant effort on Wizz's end, so if he is willing/able to make some changes that are favored by a majority of the members here, so be it, but if not, I certainly understand. His time & work should be considered and respected by everyone here.

Just a thought :)

While on the surface it sounds like a good idea, in reality not so much.

There are way too many variables, with people using hardware from 15 years ago in many categories all the way to every piece of new hardware. This would require a massive database, someone to maintain it, and would likely slow down page creation on users’ TPU pages.

I LOLZED!

If a person has more then one system usually they are a little more a custom to trouble shooting, frankly I can't even recall all the hardware I have(on hand)but that's just me.

I would say that is a pretty fair assessment, IMHO.

Damn, your kids have some decent rigs! I'm still quite happy with my 4790k system. As you can see, I have two others in my sig. One needs to be updated.

I don't see the correlation. Many people who are just plain users have a PC and a notebook, for example. Or there could a spouse, partner, or child in the household with their own computer. Regardless, unless the OP specifies the computer in question during the opening post, the information (even if only one computer is listed) is of no use to helpers.

Voted to expand that system to allow more than one system.

Obvious reason? I have more than one system. LOL

Seems that the poll totally disagrees with you, everyone that voted so far thinks that the System Specs are useful in one way or another.
Including him! LOL

I believe I brought up a similar idea years ago. Many of us have multiple systems, which usually get cluttered together in the system specs dropdown or even spill over into our sigs. Upgrading the system specs tab in such a way would be a a pretty neat way to list a bunch of rigs, if one were so inclined, and it wouldn't be cluttery.

That said, I think this thread has generated a disproportionate amount of drama... I understand W1zzard is busy, but I also see no one forcing him to do anything, or being mad if it doesn't get done. This subforum literally says "feature requests" are part of what this section is for! So here's a feature request. If it happens, great! If not, that's fine too. No one is going to fall to pieces over it.

If this is not a current feature of the software as it stands, I find this thread to be nearly pointless.

Unless you are willing to write the code so w1zzard isn't "forced" into more work because a poll says he should.
Could there be a ready made plug-in for this, maybe? I have no idea, just a suggestion. It would avoid all that coding hard graft if there is.

With vBulletin(the system the forum used to be based on) there likely wasn't. With XenForo(what the forums are based on now) there might be.

Has anyone shot a PM to @W1zzard to see if he would be able to chime in here with possibilities of adding this?

i like it as is but a change is as good as a rest so im open to improvements.:).
