A Closer Look - Inside

Let's take a look at the side panel before we dive into the case's interior. be quiet! lined it with sound-dampening material, and there is a spot for a fan in its middle. There is also a metal-mesh dust filter, and you push it out in steps to allow for more or less airflow through a fan.

To access the interior, simply remove two thumbscrews holding each panel in place. The interior does look similar to that of some other cases on the market at first glance, but there are differences as be quiet! has taken some existing tooling and added their own improvements, and a be quiet! spin. You will, on one hand, find their signature orange rubber grommets covering the cable-routing holes, and there are, on the other, uniquely designed hard-drive cages.

There is around 22 mm worth of space between the side panel and motherboard tray, which should be enough to route all the cables quite easily. You will also find two 2.5" hard-drive trays. Attached to the back of the motherboard tray, these are made of metal and are held in place by a thumbscrew each.

Take a look at the front of the Silent Base 600's interior and you will be greeted by a single hard-drive cage. It is removable, which allows you to clear the space for a radiator, for example. be quiet! also left all mounting possibilities in place for you to add another hard-drive cage or move one from the bottom up, which would have it hang off the 5.25" bays. Speaking of these, there are three, each with the same screw- and tool-less locking mechanism as in the Silent Base 800.

The PSU bay is in the bottom of the rear. As it comes with two sets of mounting holes, you may install the power supply with its fan facing up- or downward. Above it are the seven expansion slots for an ATX board. be quiet! has done well by placing individual covers and thumbscrews on each of these. You will also find a 120 mm fan of actual retail quality at the very top, set to push air out through the back.

You may take off both the case's front and top. Doing so in front reveals a 140 mm fan of retail quality be quiet! set to push air into the case through the front. The top cover needs to be removed if you intend to install any cooling units or a radiator there. As mentioned before, you can fit up two 120/140 mm fans or a radiator of up to 240 mm in size into the top.

All the cables within the Silent Base 600 are of the standard variety, so you should run into no issues while connecting them to a modern motherboard. The fan controller is powered by a SATA connection to the PSU, and be quiet! included three 3-pin plugs for the fans. Naturally, all the leads are sleeved black to go with the enclosure's overall color scheme.
