Radeon HD 6900 Series Products Listed on European Store

A French online store listed AMD Radeon HD 6900 series graphics cards. Both branded by MSI, the Radeon HD 6950 part carries the model number R6950-2PM2D2G5, and packs 1 GB of GDDR5 memory, while the Radeon HD 6970 carries the model number R6970-2PM2D2GD5, and packs twice the amount - 2 GB GDDR5 memory. Besides the memory amount, the other only significant specification is the list price, €398.22 for the HD 6950, and €496.02 for the HD 6970. So far, both SKUs are known to be high-end single GPU cards. AMD's elusive HD 6900 series graphics cards will be launched next week.

€398=$400= a fills the gap between GTX570 and GTX580?
€496=$500= better than GTX 580?

What is AMD going to do to fill up the gap between 6870 and 6950? With 6930?

In general the US prices are totally different from everywhere else. I'd expect at least $50 less than that. We saw the same thing with the 570 just days ago.

Fair enough, but that means 6970 is going to be as powerful as GTX 570 and 6950 a bit more powerful than GTX 470? Of course, this means that if they are using 6970x2 for 6990, its going to cost about $800...

Facts are, 6970 will be faster than the 580 by 10-20%, 6950 will be on par or slightly faster than the 570.

source please. And if 6970 is going to be faster than GTX 580, then why not sell it more expensively? Or at least as expensive? We all know that AMD is currently very poor, and a cash boost will be very welcome.

Source? Facts require evidence/proof. Or are you just guessing?

Edit: Fourstaff beat me to it. :)

Well you know that on the old roadmap (where the HD 5890 was still on track along with other models that weren't released due to TSMC's jump over the 32nm process) appeared to be a certain model, namely the HD 5860, which would properly fill the gap between the HD 5850 and HD 5870.

I'm thinking approx $650-700 but so worth it to have a card that should blow away any games that crosses it's path for at least 3 years.

Those are way too high, surely? Like Fourstaff pointed out, there is too big a gap in price between the 6870 & 6950. Unless they have the 6930 lined up to fill that gap in a month or two (haven't heard any rumours about it - was it even on the roadmap?), then I suspect these prices are bs. But in the end I guess it comes down to how well they perform.

500 Euros? I highly doubt it is worth the extra over a 580.

The problem wasn't just that it was easy to guess, but that it got crawled by search spiders, so the article was appearing on google search. That's how I found it. Just by google chance.

Fact is AMD have always been best value for performance whilst Nvidia just rip you off, AMD will price their cards below Nvidia even though they perform better, less cost more sales, more market share. It's not as if Nvidia are even providing any competition in the market currently, 580 stocks are all but dried up and 570 is scarce LMAO. AMD will do a proper next generation release of new cards and not some lame refresh with hardly no stock.

As for my performance figures, they come from a guy I know who works for one of AMD's biggest AIB's, come review day they will be found to be correct,

On factory default clock the 6970 wont beat the GTX-580, but it will be faster if U using AMD PowerTune.

(cant wait for buy it :) )

I was hoping these would be in the $300-$400 range, and if nothing else drive the 6800 prices down a bit.

AMD is crazy if these are the prices, but can't tell for sure until we see a few reviews.

Also, THIS IS JUST ONE source. Could be wrong.

Did a quick search on newegg, guess what: GTX 580 and GTX 570 are both available (well, quite a lot of GTX 580s are gone, but you can still get them). GTX580 might be a lame name, but do not write it off as a lame product. Its a bloody good refresh because it fixes the main issue(s) plaguing GTX 480.

No proof for 6970's performance figures? Well, tough luck, I will need to wait for 6970 to confirm any sort of bull spewing out from the internets.
