AMD Catalyst 14.2 Beta v1.3 for Windows is Now Available

AMD launched Catalyst 14.2 Beta v1.3, the second major public release of its software suite this year. The driver brings stability and performance improvements to Mantle, and comes in time for Thief, the second AAA game title that supports Mantle and AMD TrueAudio. The driver also corrects frame-pacing for dual-graphics in non-XDMA (classic CrossFire) setups, at resolutions above 2560 x 1600 pixels. The installer now re-integrates AMD Gaming Evolved app by Raptr, which optimizes games for your hardware at the click of a button.

  • Frame Pacing for Dual Graphics and non-XDMA configurations above 2560x1600 are now supported with Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4
  • Dual graphics DirectX 9 application issues have been resolved
  • Minecraft: missing textures have been resolved
  • 3D applications no longer see intermittent hangs or application crashes
  • Resolves corruption issues seen in X-plane

Strangely enough in game I get worse performance with this driver in Thief, a game they claim has better performance with it. Put 13.12 back in and it's playing fine. Seems their betas are not what they used to be.

harry90catalyst 14 beta drivers are still buggy. i actually lose over 400 3dmark score and games seems to run slower, could be a bug or glitch. But best driver was the 13.12. also have to do a restart after a cold boot for the r290x to work properly otherwise it gets way to low fps in many games. never had it in 13.12 which shows a driver issue.
using win 8.1? have you try this?

answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-windows_update/windows-81-pro-hangs-on-every-first-booting-after/263c53d2-f880-46be-928f-c18f4f662160

Hi,

Win 8 and 8.1 have a new feature called Fast Startup. It can sometimes cause problems like you mention as well as others.

The easiest way to tell if this is the problem is to turn it off and see what happens.

This feature only works when you do a SHUTDOWN and then Boot.

It doesn't effect a RESTART.

To turn it off or on...

Go to Control panel...Power Options, and select Choose What the Power Buttons Do on the left.

Then select Change Settings That Are Currently Unavailable near the top center of screen...

Lower down on the window, uncheck Fast Startup.

This may or may not help your problem, but is easy to check.

If this resolves the problem, then you can investigate what isn't loading properly.

worked here, for me...

Same here on my wife's system (760K OC / HD7850).

13.12 - 36FPS
14.2 - 32FPS & lots of stutter.

The driver also "lost" my Eyefinity profile....

I havn't had a chance to play anything else but Thief at least isn't seeing the performance improvements it should be on this system.
