Microsoft Rolls Out Windows 10 April 2018 Update (build 1803)

Microsoft began rolling out Windows 10 April 2018 Update. This isn't an ordinary "patch Tuesday" update, but a major update akin to "Fall Creators Update," which updates the build of the operating system to 1803. With it, Microsoft is introducing four major features to Windows 10 - Timeline, Focus Assist, Dictation, and a new and improved Edge web-browser. Timeline is essentially a time-linked file manager that organizes your files (and versions of them), e-mails, web-browser favorites, and search results, by time, so you can go back up to 30 days in time to find your stuff.

Focus Assist is a feature that lets you keep your focus on work (or productive tasks), and prevents you from being sucked into endless scrolling through social-media or other trivial activity, when you're supposed to be working. You set it to turn on in specific times of the day and days of the week, or even arbitrarily, and it keeps giving you visual or auditory reminders that pull you away from your trivial activity. The third major feature is Dictation, which is natural voice input as somewhat grammatically correct text. Microsoft made improvements to Edge that include the ability to mute tabs, maximize Reading Mode or PDFs into full-screen, secure payment options storage, and in-built Grammar Tools besides spell-checkers, so you no longer need to pay for services such as Grammarly.

The disc image is available from Microsoft directly at this address.

When using a Windows machine it will prompt you to install the Microsoft Disc Image Download Tool. If you rather have a direct download of the Windows 10 ISO you have to change your browser's user agent, so that the site thinks you are on an unsupported OS.

Chrome: Go to the page above, press F12, in the devtools window, top right, click the three dots, select "More tools", "Network conditions", User agent: Blackberry.
Firefox: Install a user agent switcher addon, then switch to the user agent to a non-Windows platform.
Edge: Go to the page above, press F12, in the devtools window, select "Emulation", "Device", "iPad".

trparkyYou're still running a hard drive? Well then, there's your problem. Your should be running an SSD.
Oh come on, let's be real. It shouldn't take half a day no matter the storage type.

New update just crashed my pc. Started right back up though. I read that this is periodically happening with this spring update.

INSTG8RI’d be using Daniel K’s drivers regardless if I was still on my X-Fi
Using the same, however the latest update made those garbage.

That’s unfortunate. I hope he may still put effort into them and will correct them.

Just got to installing this earlier... And there seems to be some sort of bug for just Guildwars 1 or other DX9 games where it kicks me to desktop before loading up the next map everytime i re-zone,

I havent played any other games so far but its semi annoying since ive recently started playing guildwars 1 quite regularly again.

-- Ive updated my drivers to the most recent Nvidia ones just incase the windows update borked something but the problem still persists.

Its like its de-initialising then re-initializing the 3D hardware every time i load into a different area.

:EDIT:

It seems i have semi fixed the issue by turning off focus assist within the windows settings. Instead of being kicked to desktop for 2-3 seconds. I just get a quick flash of my desktop then im back into the game again

::EDIT2::

Guildwars 2 straight up refuses to start. Updated my gpu drivers and everything but nothing I do works. Currently in the process of rolling back the 1803 update

LycanwolfenWe shall see what this update does internally. I really do not care for features more for whats new under the hood. Every edition allways installs some wierd game or crap no one wants. Like the first update to orginial I called it the Candy Krush edition because it install that stupid game without asking if I wanted it. Fall edition I called disney makeover edition.
It does not install Candy crush but only a place holder to the download page on the store so please quit with the BS MS bashing and it takes all of 2 seconds to right click it and tell it to be gone
GoldenXThis month's security update took some hours on my SSD. My theory is that Microsoft uses some really heavy compression.
only took 20 mins including the reboot on my 2 cheapo Kingston V300 120GB SSD's in RAID0
