Eluktronics Announces World First Laptops With 1440p, 165 Hz IPS Displays

Eluktronics today announced the first world laptops equipped with high quality IPS, 1440p, high refresh rate laptops. The new laptops feature displays built by BOE, and current estimates place panel costs for these 1440p panels at just $50 higher than comparable 1080p panels. The panels offer a maximum brightness of 318 nits (so no HDR capability at least for now), but also offer 100% sRGB coverage and 87% Adobe RGB coverage.

Eluktronics is offering three distinct laptops with the new panels: the Mech-15 G3 QHD, Max-15 HQD, and Max7-17 QHD. All of these are based on Intel platforms powered by a Core i7-10870H processor. Currently, the only graphics card option is the NVIDIA RTX 2070 SUPER (there is no RTX 2080 SUPER option). Prices range from $2,199 to $2,299, and Eluktronics is currently running a promo which shaves $300 off the price with code BFQHD. Eluktronics says these will ship before Christmas. It remains to be seen whether AMD-based options will be introduced as well as when will the graphics card options be updated.

Brilliant, as BOE of 1440P high refresh rate panel drop, 1080P screen price might get push down further.

IMO for 15 inch 1080P is more than enough, 1440P only start to make sense when you get to 16/17 inch.

once AMD 7nm cpu/gpu combo hits these screens, that will be the real winner of the day. that ryzen 5600x in eco mode capped at 45 watts, decimates anything anything Intel can put in a laptop

Depends on what you are using it for. Watching anime or Youtube should be epic at that resolution and screen. Just minimize a Window on a 1440P screen and you will see what I mean. There is no comparison between 1080P and 1440P at any resolution anyway.

with bezel decreases being so great these days, they really should make 18.4" models again, they will be same size as 17.3" of older generations size wise. that would be the best imo.

no one cares about that part of it. no one should be or imo has ever gamed on battery life, the battery is so if you need to you can take it to class to take notes, or just a little extra mobility in general. 99% of laptop gamers know they have to leave it plugged in when gaming for the most part.

The current zen2 apu decimates anything intel has in laptops atm. I rather the current zen2 apu than the i9 I have right now.
When zen3 comes out for laptops, I hate to see what intel will have in their lineup to compete.

It was a bit of humour, relax. It's not work in here.
Even on working laptop, I'm basically always plugged in, because I don't want my poor laptop to downclock ...
