This Week in Gaming (Week 12)

Week 12 is really delivering a baker's dozen when it comes to big game releases, as we have both new and old big releases this week, with this week's AAA release being an open world action RPG game. However, if that's not your cup of tea, then we still have a week packed to the brim with big releases, although it starts off with a bug-sized indie game, but its theme carries over to the next release and this game somehow involves robots. This is followed by a game where you might want to have someone's hand to hold, as it can get a bit scary, even if it's a remake. Towards the end of this week we have another major release, which also involves robots and was a big hit on the PlayStation consoles. We end the week on a somewhat similar theme as the first two game releases of the week, even though it's on a much grander scale.

Dragon's Dogma 2 / This week's AAA release / Friday 22 March
Dragon's Dogma is a single player, narrative driven action-RPG series that challenges the players to choose their own experience - from the appearance of their Arisen, their vocation, their party, how to approach different situations and more. Now, in this long-awaited sequel, the deep, explorable fantasy world of Dragon's Dogma 2 awaits. On your journey, you'll be joined by Pawns, mysterious otherworldly beings, in an adventure so unique you will feel as if accompanied by other players while on your own adventure. All of these elements are elevated further through physics technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and the latest in graphics, to create a truly immersive fantasy world in Dragon's Dogma 2. Alone in the Dark / Wednesday 20 March
Alone in the Dark weaves a chilling tapestry of psychological horror and Southern Gothic charm, reimagining the iconic game that set the benchmark for the genre. We invite you to join us on a journey into madness, where each encounter could be your last. With each step you take closer to unravelling Derceto's mystery, the eyes that watch from the darkness grow hungrier. Every bullet means the difference between survival and an unthinkable end. ExcuseMeWtf
Okay, 2 and 3 made me go seriously WTF? They have novelty going for them, but I bet once that wears off, they won't have much staying power.

Monday is a terrible day for new game releases and the Tuesday one apparently has a lot of interest in it so...

Pesticide one hits a bit too close right now given last week I had to deep clean my house for tick infestation(and there are still quite a few left which I need to catch using CO2 traps). Will give it a try just for fun.

Gonna pick up Forbidden West and play it on day 1 if all goes well, HZD was one of the few games in the past years that made me play more than I normally do.

Baker's dozen....you posting more later because I only count 6 games on your list, where are the other 7? Or am I misunderstanding the reference?

I mostly enjoyed Horizon Zero Dawn, though I thought it got a little long in the tooth, I wouldn't mind getting Horizon Forbidding West if it were on GoG like Zero Dawn is.

Not at all, it was more about it being week 12 and that there were a lot of big releases this week, so the reference was more about getting more than expected than a reference to 13.

All in due time, zero dawn took like 3 month to be released in gog, forbidden west should follow a similar timeline

I am going to have to clone myself. I am already having a hell of a good time with Helldivers 2. I loaded up Dragon's Dogma and have no real idea where I am but had to kill a pack of Wolves. TWWH3 Old World mod has over 800 settlements and now these 2 Gems are launching. Let's not forget arguably the best Star Wars Game ever (Battlefront 2 PS2 Era) is being remastered for PC.

Horizon, hopefully they fixed the camera angle as the first part gave me motion sickness.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is next for me after Helldivers 2. Down the road I'll pick up Horizon. Hadn't heard of Lightyear Frontier, but that may be the next family co-op game.
