Razer Clio: The Must-Have Gaming Chair Accessory for Audio Immersion

Razer, the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, today unveiled the Razer Clio, an innovative gaming chair accessory designed to deliver headset-like immersive audio without the constraints of wearing one. Surround sound can often be complex, but with Razer Clio, use it as a standalone primary speaker, delivering powerful and clear audio on its own, or pair it with your existing front speakers on Synapse 4 to enjoy a richer surround sound experience.

Equipped with integrated near-field dual speakers that direct soundwaves straight to the ears, the Razer Clio delivers maximal acoustic performance over stereo speakers, ensuring clear sound without distortion, even outside the 'sweet spot'. This creates a fully immersive sound experience for gaming, watching movies, or listening to music.
Gamers will enjoy a full-bodied soundscape that blends seamlessly into their setup, providing optimal performance and enjoyment without the need for headsets.

Key Features
  • Immersion: THX Spatial Audio takes immersion to new heights with acoustic widening modes for hyper-realism. Entertainment comes to life from every angle with advanced THX immersive audio and two 43 mm full-range drivers, delivering dynamic, high-fidelity sound for a hyper-realistic listening experience.
  • Compatibility: Integrated near-field dual speakers deliver high-quality audio and an immersive gaming experience, similar to wearing a headset but without the fatigue. Angled speakers direct sound straight to the ears for an intimate listening experience. Use the Razer Clio as a standalone primary speaker or pair it with existing speakers as a rear speaker to create a dynamic 5.1 surround sound experience that enhances gameplay and entertainment.
  • Connectivity: Connect wirelessly across devices for ultra-low-latency PC and console gaming with Razer HyperSpeed Wireless, or switch to Bluetooth for compatibility with Android and iOS devices.
  • Form Factor: Plush memory foam head cushion features thick, dense foam that balances support and comfort to cradle the head and neck for a comfortable listening experience. With adjustable nylon straps, the Razer Clio is compatible with high-back gaming chairs.
  • Battery life: Gamers can enjoy unparalleled audio freedom with up to 14 hours of battery life, providing uninterrupted entertainment on a single charge.
In line with Razer's #GoGreenWithRazer movement and commitment to a sustainable future, the Razer Clio charges with a standard USB-C cable, encouraging users to reuse existing cables. Consequently, no USB-C charging cable will be included in the box, furthering efforts to decarbonize Razer's products.

The Razer Clio represents a significant advancement in gaming audio technology, offering a versatile and immersive solution for gamers seeking high-quality sound without the limitations of traditional headsets. With its innovative design and commitment to sustainability, the Razer Clio is set to redefine the gaming audio experience.

[Editor's note: the Razer Clio costs US$229.99]

…truly, a must have for those who want to look like absolute tools. If wearing good open back headphones is just too mainstream, well, we have a… battery powered thing to strap to your chair to receive all the same benefits (maybe, most NF speakers sound like ass) in a relatively more expensive, less convenient and significantly stupider package.

razer seriously 1st of april was a moth ago what the fuck

Won't work well for gamer who like to lean forward. Would need gaming chair or some mod to even use that.

I have good enough neck rest on my office chair and that thing looks like it gonna give me neck pain.

Based on how well it's implemented and price this might be a pretty cool immersive idea. I can see myself closing my eyes and enjoying an immersive surround soud experience without putting on heavy headphones. And all over-the-ear headphones are heavy no matter how light they are.

I think previous negative negative comments come from Razer doing this. If it was presented differently by a random startup or another company with a more customer friendly bang/buck reputation reception would be much different.

Won't work for gamers that has anything but the old racing car seat as their gaming/computer chair.

Updated with pricing. I believe it's more than what anyone is going to want to pay for this thing.

Worth it so that you can effortlessly cosplay as a character from an old Soviet cartoon every time you have a serious work-related video call.

Technically a muse of history from Greek mythology, which has to do fuck all with the Razer product. Although she also is technically a muse of some music in SOME versions, so I suppose…

Growing up in Sweden when I did, that was actually a children's program here too, it was called Drutten och Gena.

The big-eared creature is called Cheburashka in the original, which I suppose didn’t translate well to Swedish. Does Drutten have any specific meaning?
The crocodile was translated one to one though, he was Gena in the original too, shorthand for Gennady/Gennadiy.

I believe it was just a name they ended up giving it that sounded funny. There's no real explanation that I can find for it anyhow.
However, they did use Drutten for a sugar free "tablettask" for kids. This was a common way of selling small packets of sweets for kids back then.

Not going to lie, I'd be tempted to buy these or a Chinese knock-off (assuming it doesn't end up the same cost due to tariffs). A friend has the OXS Thunder Pro+ setup that includes a headrest with satellite speakers, and I liked the idea of having some simple speakers on a headrest that reduces what I wear though still being close to the ears, though I didn't like the rest of the OXS kit (tacky soundbar).

I already alternate between a modest but well-used RIG headset and an earlier-gen wired Panasonic SoundSlayer Neck Speaker depending on how sweaty my ears get or when the eventual ear/head fatigue pain sets in, while still trying to keep the noise down in the evening and mostly directed at my ears. Having a pair of actual directional short-range speakers on a headrest would be a nice replacement for the SoundSlayer, depending on the quality of sound. I'm not aiming for theater level here; just casual, clear speakers that focus the sound so I can hear footsteps and reloading in games or movies, without disturbing others.

I was considering it as an upgrade, but I'd like to have less things that I'd have to "wear", as well as store awkwardly (it would also free up a drawer I used to keep my old model wired SoundSlayer in when not in use). And given both are within the 250~ USD range, it'd be a matter of giving the Clio a try before deciding whether to keep it or return it and just upgrade to the newer SoundSlayer (or keep the existing one until it finally kaputs on me).
