Battlefield 2142 version 1.50 Final Patch Released

Electronic Arts today released an update for the Battlefield 2142 franchise bringing the game to version 1.50. As a Battlefield 2 player, I know major updates like this one occur very rarely, so enjoy it. This new update includes new community maps (Wake Island 2142 and Operation Shingle), the ability to use widescreen resolutions, added no vehicles mode and Conquest Assaults modes, and more.

hahahaha widescreen at last. i wonder how long it'll take the players to revolt about the 'cheating' that wide users get.

It took them this long to add widescreen support, and then even worse, they only add it in BF2142. There are still plenty of people playing BF2. Certainly, not so many any more, but I'm sure people will get annoyed.

Downloading now... just installed another HD2900 in crossfire... should look good in 1920X1200
i wonder though if itll look any different to the widescreen hack that I was using?

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200

if you've ever been on the games forums, they are full of very abusive 4:3 users who claim widescreen is cheating and an unfair advantage. My beleif is that it will be the same as the hack - giving LESS viewing area than 4:3 (reduced vertical) as opposed to increased horizontal. Please have a look and let us know how they did it :) screenshots before and after oughta show the difference.

Adding native widescreen support should at least fix the ingame text, with the shortcut hack it was still blurry and not like is should look in native resolution.

People will always try to claim it's a hack. They just think it'll be advantageous to widescreen users. Hell, might get you killed more, you'll be looking either side of you, miss someone high up.
I do hope it's H+ though, not just a stretched image.

More EA crap, BF2 still has a load more players than 2142 yet they cant even give the BF2 community a god dam widescreen fix we have been asking for since the games release. Unfair advantage my ass, all other FPS support widescreen, COD4, CSS, any problems with them, of course not, so why shouldn't 2142 and BF2 support it. Good job i use the widescreen fixer to get proper FOV in BF2.

I coudnt agree more man come on EA give us BF2 players widescreen support if that isnt too much to ask.

I see how it's possible too much to ask, seeing as they run on basically the same engine, a graphical update wouldn't require a huge reworking, if I had to guess.

This is very good news from one of my favorite game makers. Way to go EA! They could have just dropped any support for this game (400 servers vs over 3500 for BF2 any day) and spent time making a NEW game to make money on, but they added to this old one instead.:toast:
As for the widescreen deal,..I have used that famous program,"Wide-Screen Fixer" program with no problem at all. I never get kicked from any servers. It will be good to see the difference.

Nice, it came out of beta sooner than I expected, 1.40 took for ages. Most important thing this does is to block A LOT of cheats and clithes in the game (sure more will follow) but maybe I'll get a couple days cheat free gaming :) 2 new maps is also a nice bonus.

sigh... this new patch makes my bf2142 take 1.4gb of ram on its own, on 1.4 it took ~900mb. It in general performs worse and they made the pod movement sluggish. At least they fixed the air transport pod, where it smashes you

Full update said "error while installing" and closed it self. Tried incremental 1.40->1.50 and that worked, but every server says I have modified content now.. I don't think any of the patches has worked without complete reinstall (1.4 might have).

Kinda pain to install BF2142, then patch never than 1.25 so that Northern Strike can be installed and top that of with the latest patch. Reading the feedback makes you think that the whole patch is kinda bad, 1.51 coming (hopefully).

Oh how I hated 1.4 for that. Fly a transport and gunship comes along, only thing left to do to not die is to pod out. Land safe for a second and then transport fallows on top of you with same trajectory :p

so what does everyone else think about the patch itself? personally I think the wake island titans are too vulnerable and the memory leak issue sucks.

thats weird, you might be connecting to servers running 1.4. i upgraded from 1.4-1.5 with the full installed no problem, i would try a full re-install if you have the patience.
