I'm actually
very concerned with where the game industry is going in regards to price.
I've always thought that games were expensive. $50 for a new game is alot. Then the 360/PS3 came out and now it's $60. That's crazy.
The thing is, you don't have a choice. If you want to play the game, you pay for it.
Now they want to take the rest of my money with DLC and paying to play used games.
DLC worries me becasue I'm afraid that when you get a new game, you'll only get half of the game, and they'll expect you to buy DLC to get the rest. They'll purposely make parts of the game DLC so you'll pay extra for them.
Paying to play used games is just another way to make money. They got their money already when the first person got ripped off when they bought the game. Now you're going to rip off me too?
In other news,
The Pirate Bay is back up, now being hosted by the Sweedish Pirate Party.
I
condone piracy. I'm not saying that pirating all your games will solve all your problems. But I do think that if piracy becomes rampant enough, two things will happen. 1) Legit buyers will complain about DRM and demand that it be removed. 2) Game developers will hear the legit buyer's complaints and see the loss of sales due to piracy. Then they'll do something else besides adding more DRM.
Or they do nothing because of the problem I outlined above. You don't have a choice. You'll complain, but you'll still buy them. A boycott is a solution, but there's no way you can create a boycott on video games that would actually affect something. Or at least, not yet.
I think a change will come, but alot more people will have to get mad.
This was a very unorganized post
