I have read it, most of it, at least. I think it's likely that the pro censorship people are more vocal than than the anti censorship people, hence the poll and the comments don't align and why I referred to the poll.

As you know, I think censorship is a bad idea and I've already given a detailed explanation on this thread on why I think it is.

Too bad we can't do it like TBS does their movie editing. When someone in a movie says "F*** you!" in the edited version it actualy comes out as "Forget you!" with an overdubbed voice. lol

From my wanderings across these forums, I didn't think foul language was that prolific enough to warrant any censorship. There is a time and a place for foul language and from what I've seen, most seem to be keeping it to a minimum.

Sometimes base language is all that's left to express a strong sentiment.

Smilies and asterisks sometimes just don't cut the mustard

+1 on your whole post, JTS, especially the bold bit. I don't see much swearing either and the irony of my anti censorship position is that I seldom swear either.

impress the mods without asking to be a mod.

Thats how i got it, i guess. More mods were needed, so they looked for people who'd been around for a long time (and seemed like they'd stick around for a long time more) without a bad record, but with a helpful attitude

And if anyone thinks that my conversation is really a coded request to become a mod, it really, truly isn't. I've got enough going on in real life without having a zillion post alerts coming my way which I have to look at and deal with and then deal with infractions and complaints.

I'm just happy to be an ordinary member of this great community. :toast:
