Karaya, just some insightful information. It's not that an 8600GT is a weak card, there are just some better cards out there for really not much more and compared to those they are weak.

8600GT can SOMETIMES be overclocked and pushed past GTS clocks.

Also, if you can find a 2600xt with DDR4 at the same price, get it.

Neither of those cards are going to satisfy you in any way, and probably be a pretty hardcore disappointment. A 9600GT will run you 149 after a MIR, you should think about saving up for that. It is a mid range card but it runs like high end. If you are so much under budget that you are poor, then 8600GT, or ill sell you my 7900GS, which outperforms it pretty good, for 60 dollars.

Not really a serious offer, i was mainly trying to get you to realize that, even for the games you play, you will be sorely dissapointed in both of said cards. The 8500GT is mostly just a media center card not meant for games, and the 8600GT is the lowest end card for that series, and although you can have a good card with an overly unstable clock, im just trying to keep you from buying a piece of silicon that will go in the trash next week. 8800gs is a pretty good choice and its only $130.

all of you know that the 8500GT performs pretty evenly with a 7800Gs/GT correct?

I have to disagree with most of what has been said so far... The 8600GT is a very good card and probably one of the best values available.

The 3850 is also a very good value (but almost double the price of some of the 8600s)

I'll ask in Monday how much will cost the shipment of the card and in how many days will take the delivery to Morocco.
VAT = Value added tax.
I checked now, I can get you the Inno3D 8800GT 512MB for 153eur(with VAT included). For 200eur(inc. VAT) I can get you the Asus EN8800GT TOP OC(core:700MHz, shader:1750MHz, RAM: 1000MHz) which has a very decent and very quiet cooler. The regular Asus EN8800GT is 183eur(inc. VAT).The Asus EAH Radeon 3850 512MB is 145eur(inc. VAT)

nice ! so have u ever had a 8600gt ?
right now I am running 2 of them and they are close to a 8800GTS.
with a Dual core AMD I get 16K on 3Dmark 05 and 9700 on 3DMark 06.

I have built MANY systems for others and they are a very good "Value" Yes the 3850 is better (but it costs 2X as much)

If you are happy with a 9550 you will love the 8600. But please make sure to get the GT version and not the GS.

First of all, I really want to thank you for that statement kleb. As everyone knows an HD3850 really cant compete with an 8800GTS.

@karaya

To back up what Snipe said, I can max NFS Pro Street no AA/AF 1440x900. Playable at ~35fps.

thank you for the useful post and yeah I'm happy with the 9550 and cant wait to upgrade and as i see the 8600gt is not bad at all and well if something went wrong with this 8800 deal ill certainly go for a 8600gt. :p

i have a 17" monitor and I'm very happy with the 1024x768 quality when gaming and maybe i will raise it once or twice to over that but as i said 1024x768 is the way to go and according to that most of the fps i will be getting will be good i think . and if its too good maybe ill raise the resolution by then :)

i know i need a new monitor but for the moment i have to worrie about getting a graphics card first.

karaya I missed that you were getting a 8800 (that is an EXCELLENT card)

The reason I started with the 8600GTs was because they produce very little heat and consume about 1/6 the power of the 8800 series.

At that time the 8800GTS cards were close to $400 so the $100 8600GTs were a good deal.
Now the 8800GT is less than $200 and is almost as fast as a GTX.

Remember with the 8800 series of card a GOOD power supply is important as well as improved case cooling.
