Why is xbox incompatible with windows coding?

Fact ! pc gaming in dieing out. Wow is single handedly keeping pc gaming alive but its showing its age & doesnt need the lastest gpu's. Nvidia & Ati are going to be in trouble !

You only have to look in any high street games shop to see how bad things have gotten.
4 walls awash with consoles games, Shelves full of console hardware, part exchange deals for console games & a massive collection of bargain second hand games.

Then there's the pc games section. Where the F*k ? oh its that little rack in the corner :shadedshu
No pc hardware, No second hand games & part ex. Pc gaming is not mainstream. Its as if its getting to be something only a select few of die hards do.

In my opinion microsoft are a good part of the reason for this. Xbox 360 is killing pc gaming !
Would it have been so hard to have made the xbox with windows based coding so xbox games run on pc's & pc games run on xbox. Most pc games are xbox ports anyway.
I could only see that would have made xbox & pc gaming massive. You could maybe say to massive. Unfair to opposition perhaps ???

If anything is going to kill PC gaming, its going to be piracy. Not a console. But either way, your wrong. PC gaming isnt dying. Its probably as strong as ever. There are some great titles coming this way in about a month or so and even later this year.

And TBH, with WoW's expansion packs, try going to Dalaran with the very latest GPU, youll lag like hell. I know I do. The latest expansions can and are very taxing on graphics whether it looks like it or not.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. I don't think I'm even going to try. Just look at all the awesome games coming out and what's been coming out the last few years man..

Diablo 3? Starcraft 2? Any actual RTS?

You'd probably have more of a die out if people could buy any game and use it on their Xbox 360. What's causing a slow down is the keeping the PC version back months or even years (if its ever released at all). Halo 2 for PC came out after Halo 3 for Xbox. Now that is just stupid. However, Microsoft stands to make more from games on the Xbox (its really only them getting money and the game developer) then they do for games on the PC. Why other companies are holding out on their games doesn't make any sense as they don't stand to gain nearly as much as Microsoft.

PC gaming will continue to slow down because consoles have gotten to be miniature computers themselves, only with the Mac factor of almost no upgrades.

I don't know why some game companies won't do both. Even though I own an Xbox360, there are very few games that I buy for it. Especially seeming some just need a mouse and keyboard control scheme.

Yeah they coming out. But sales are tiny compared to the concole versions.

Consoles just plains suck compared to a good (old) rig, much less a cutting edge PII or i7 setup. Period. Nuff said. What does a 360 compare to?? A 4800X2 and a 2600XT?? HAHAHAHA. Play the same game on a decent rig and a PS3/360 side by side and see the difference. No further comment needed.

not true. PC gaming is not dying it never was, it was just in a economic decline.

This year the PC gaming market is worth over $20 billion, that figure will rise to $34 billion before 2012, and since 2005 there has been more gaming PCs shipped than the Wii, PS3 and 360 combined.

People do consoles because its easy. Plug, play and talk. And frankly, I'm glad because it does cut down on the 'dumbsh**' factor on the PC. I've never once been called any racial slurs over PC games, however most every Halo match is met with alot of anti mexican sentiment because I have 'El' in my name. Doesn't matter that I'm Canadian without an ounce of Hispanic blood in me.

I much prefer the PC multiplayer.

Gaming will always be the same, consoles gaming while PC is doing programming, workstation-based multi-tasking or fold client spamming. The only threat I see to the PC is the upcoming OnLive console that has been getting good ratings, but since its cloud-based streaming thats being used, it will require an internet connection making it a no-good console when used in a family network which is the #1 consumer target for consoles (fail). In other words, PC will never die. Why? Because they make the games! If there is anything stupid in the gaming industry it will be developers making games platform-exclusive. Now, lets just calm down and play some L4D

Yep, however the last I checked, IBM made the 360 cpu based on the g5

Microsoft has software for easily converting things to run on 360 last I believe.


PC gaming isnt near dead. Its just becoming what the real gaming has been pidgeonholed into.

Consoles have gone mainstream with shoddy material and ease of use, and PC's are the refuge taken by the hardcore gamers

Original Xbox was also basically a celeron 700, you could run linux, Windows CE, and someone was even nuts enough to run PearPc to run OS X inside windows CE on a Xbox.

Yeah theres going to be many pc games with limiting factors caused by the limitations of the console the game was ported from.
I reckon this is going to show more & more over the next 2 or 3 yrs. After all pc preformance is starting to leave consoles way behind but games manufactorers still do almost strait xbox ports for pc.

You'll just see more PC only games starting to come out and parallel development with a console equivalent. Pcs have been waaaay ahead of consoles almost since the consoles launched but pc developers at the moment don't do nearly as much optimisation on pc games as console game developers have to as they'll just raise the hardware requirement on the pc game, which is a real shame.

Xbox is made by microsoft. Sony or nintendo could never get the rights to run windows based pc games on there concoles.
