The FirePro W9000 was an enthusiast-class professional graphics card by AMD, launched on June 14th, 2012. Built on the 28 nm process, and based on the Tahiti graphics processor, in its Tahiti XT GL variant, the card supports DirectX 12. The Tahiti graphics processor is a large chip with a die area of 352 mm² and 4,313 million transistors. It features 2048 shading units, 128 texture mapping units, and 32 ROPs. AMD has paired 6 GB GDDR5 memory with the FirePro W9000, which are connected using a 384-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 975 MHz, memory is running at 1375 MHz (5.5 Gbps effective).
Being a dual-slot card, the AMD FirePro W9000 draws power from 1x 6-pin + 1x 8-pin power connector, with power draw rated at 274 W maximum. Display outputs include: 6x mini-DisplayPort 1.2, 1x SDI. FirePro W9000 is connected to the rest of the system using a PCI-Express 3.0 x16 interface. The card measures 279 mm in length, 111 mm in width, and features a dual-slot cooling solution. Its price at launch was 3999 US Dollars.
