Inno3D Announces iChill GeForce GTX 950 Graphics Card

Inno3D announced its custom-design GeForce GTX 950 graphics card, the iChill GTX 950. The card features a compact custom-design PCB, with a 4-phase VRM, which draws power from a 6-pin PCIe power connector. It offers factory-overclocked speeds of 1178 MHz core, 1329 MHz GPU Boost, and 6.80 GHz (GDDR5-effective) memory, compared to reference speeds of 1024/1188/6600 MHz.

The cooling solution on the Inno3D iChill GTX 950 consists of a monolithic aluminium heatsink with a copper core making contact with the GPU die, which is ventilated by a pair of 80 mm "HerculeZ" fans. These fans are suspended on a metal cooler shroud, which is detachable by unfastening thumb-screws that hold it to the heatsink; letting you easily clean the heatsink below. Inno3D could seek a small premium for this card.

Inno3D Announces GeForce GTX 980 Ti iChill X4 Ultra

Inno3D announced its flagship GeForce GTX 980 Ti based graphics card, the GTX 980 Ti iChill X4 Ultra. The card derives its name from a gargantuan custom air cooling solution by the company, which features four fans - three cooling the main GPU heatsink; and one along the card's top, cooling the memory and VRM. The main heatsink, a little over 2 slots thick, features a meaty aluminium fin-stack heatsink, with two aluminium fin-stacks projecting from a central base. This heatsink is ventilated by three 100 mm fans, suspended on a metal shroud, which is easily detachable by turning a few thumb-screws. The second heatsink draws heat from the heatspreader covering the memory and VRM, using a flat heat pipe, dissipating it under air-flow by a 60 mm spinner.

The card offers factory-overclocked speeds of 1152 MHz core, 1241 MHz GPU Boost, and 7200 MHz (GDDR5-effective) memory; against reference speeds of 1000 MHz core, 1076 MHz GPU Boost, and 7012 MHz memory. The underlying PCB is NVIDIA reference design, featuring an 8-phase VRM, and 6-pin + 8-pin PCIe power connectors. Display outputs include one each of HDMI 2.0, dual-link DVI, and three DisplayPort 1.2 connectors. Expect the card to feature a 10% pricing premium over reference. Based on the 28 nm GM200 silicon, the GTX 980 Ti offers 2,816 CUDA cores, 176 TMUs, 96 ROPs, and a 384-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 6 GB of memory. The card bundles a medium-sized mousepad with iChill branding, and a key to 3DMark (2013) Advanced.

The two cards are expected to feature factory-overclocked speeds befitting the liquid cooling solution. Inno3D claims that the cooling performance of the Accelero Hybrid S is twice that of NVIDIA's NVTTM (NVIDIA Time-to-market) reference cooling solutions. Inno3D plans to launch the two some time in December, 2014.

ELSA Launches GeForce GTX 980 SAC Graphics Card

ELSA launched its first custom-design GeForce GTX 980 graphics card, bearing its SAC (silent air-cooling) badge. The card retains its signature Inno3D-sourced look, featuring a cooling solution that lets you easily clean it, to keep its cooling performance up to the mark. The cooling solution consists of an aluminium fin-stack heatsink, to which heat drawn from the GPU, is fed by a number of copper heat pipes, and ventillated by a pair of fans. The shroud on which the two are suspended, can be detached, by pulling out thumb-screws. The PCB under this cooler appears to stick to NVIDIA reference design.

The GTX 980 SAC from ELSA is factory-overclock, although the overclock is nothing to write home about. The core is clocked at 1152 MHz, with 1253 MHz GPU Boost, and 7.00 GHz memory, compared to NVIDIA reference clocks of 1126 MHz core, and 1216 MHz GPU Boost. Based on the 28 nm GM204 silicon, the GeForce GTX 980 features 2,048 CUDA cores, 128 TMUs, 64 ROPs, and a 256-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 4 GB of memory. Based on a custom-design PCB, the card features a strong VRM (by GK107 requirements), which draws power from a 6-pin PCIe power connector. It features 1 GB of GDDR5 memory, across a 128-bit wide memory interface. Confirming that the GT 740 is based on the GK107, the marketing poster leaked to the web reads its ASIC string to be "GK107-425." It's configured with 384 CUDA cores, 32 TMUs, and 16 ROPs. The GPU is clocked at 1100 MHz (a factory-overclock), while the memory runs at 5.20 GHz (GDDR5-effective).

Cooling the 65W TDP GPU is a similarly overkill iChill HerculeZ 2000 cooler, designed in-house by Inno3D, which uses a dense aluminium fin-stack, to which heat drawn from the GPU, is fed by a pair of 8 mm-thick copper heat pipes, and ventilated by a pair of 100 mm fans. The cooler shroud on which the fans are suspended, can be detached, by simply removing six thumb-screws, letting you clean the heatsink underneath, which has been a USP of Inno3D's cooling solutions. Inno3D also put out its own performance numbers for the card, in which it claims the GT 740 iChill to be faster than previous generation GTX 650 (they're both based on the same chip).
Performance graphs follow.

Inno3D Readies iChill HerculeZ Cooler for GTX TITAN-Z

NVIDIA Preparing GeForce GTX 780 GHz Edition?

With AMD's Radeon R9 290X and the upcoming Radeon R9 290, both NVIDIA's GTX TITAN, and GTX 780 are disrupted at their price points. NVIDIA is fixing its GTX TITAN competitive woes with the GeForce GTX 780 Ti, but it's looking like the GTX 780, despite its price cut to $500, could face trouble from the cheaper Radeon R9 290. NVIDIA's more hands-on solution? Launch a new SKU, that's and backed by non-reference designs for the most part, which some of its add-in card (AIC) partners are referring to as "GeForce GTX 780 GHz Edition."

Simply put, the "GeForce GTX 780 GHz Edition" is your ordinary GTX 780 with increased clock speeds of 1006 MHz core, 1046 MHz GPU Boost, and an untouched 6.00 GHz memory. The card is based on a new stepping of the GK110 silicon, labeled "GK110-300-B1," compared to the original's "GK110-300-A1." Expreview discovered its Inno3D GTX 780 iChill HerculeZ 3000 graphics card to be based on this new silicon, and at its given speeds of 1006/1046/6008 MHz, found to to be about 15 percent faster than a standard GTX 780, and about 7 percent faster than a GTX TITAN. It's also about 6.2 percent faster than an R9 290X on the same test-bed. Power consumption isn't up significantly, and the cooler that's an Arctic Cooling solution, does a good job at keeping the temperatures manageable, and keeps throttle limits away.
