MSI GeForce RTX 4060 NV Edition Revealed as Drop #1 in Limited Series

Earlier today MSI announced its "The Limited Series," introduced as "a collection of exclusive, special version of selected items" from their product lineup. It is not immediately clear whether the first drop has been revealed prematurely—several media outlets have reported on the manufacturer's GeForce RTX 4060 Gaming X NV Edition graphics card being limited to a run of 6000 units (with select retail partners), while MSI's dedicated website for their new promotion campaign has not been updated (at the time of writing).

This limited edition "NVIDIA Edition" (NV) card appears to be a slightly dolled-up variation of the existing MSI RTX 4060 Ti Gaming X model—albeit with Team Green coloration and (possibly) white LED lighting zones. This limited run's aesthetic is said to: "deliver the same high-performance MSI brings for more than 35 years with a one-of-a-kind outlook and exclusive features to give a chance to GAMERS to add something very unique to their PC Builds." No global pricing details were included in accompanying marketing blurb.

Gigabyte Quietly Launches Low Profile GeForce RTX 4060 Graphics Card

Low profile graphics cards have always been something of a niche market, but they've found homes in many HTPC builds over the years, especially passively cooled cards. Now Gigabyte has launched a rather odd looking low profile NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 based graphics card that simply goes under the name of GeForce RTX 4060 OC Low Profile 8G. The 182 x 69 x 40 (D x H x W) mm card still manages to pack in three fans and requires an 8-pin power connector to work, which somewhat unfortunately plugs in at the rear of the card, although there wouldn't have been too many other locations to place it. This means that this card might not work in some Mini-ITX builds, due to the card being too long once the power connector is plugged in.

The card width should've given away that we're looking at a dual slot card, which is also pretty obvious from the pictures. Gigabyte provides a full height and a low profile bracket with the card, which not all low profile cards have shipped with in the past, so this is a plus. Connectivity wise, the GeForce RTX 4060 OC Low Profile 8G comes with two DP 1.4a and two HDMI 2.1a ports, making this a card well suited for HTPC usage. Gigabyte has even overclocked the GPU from 2460 MHz to 2475 MHz, which seems quite pointless and is unlikely to bring any huge performance advantages over stock clock speeds.

Update Aug 24th: During a recent meeting with Gigabyte we had a chance to go hands-on with their new RTX 4060 Low Profile card, here's some photos.

NVIDIA Cancels GeForce RTX 4090 Ti, Next-Gen Flagship to Feature 512-bit Memory Bus

NVIDIA has reportedly shelved plans in the short term to release the rumored GeForce RTX 4090 Ti flagship graphics card, according to Kopite7kimi, a reliable source with NVIDIA leaks. This card had been extensively leaked over the past few months as featuring a cinder block-like 4-slot thickness, and a unique PCB that's along the plane of the motherboard, rather than perpendicular to it. From the looks of it, sales and competition in the high-end/halo segment are too slow, the current RTX 4090 remains the fastest graphics card you can buy, and the company seems unfazed by the alleged Radeon RX 7950 series, given that AMD has already maxed out the "Navi 31" silicon, and there are only so many things the red team can try, to beat the RTX 4090.

That said, the company is reportedly planning more SKUs based on the AD103 and AD106 silicon. The AD103 powers the GeForce RTX 4080, which nearly maxes it out. The AD104 has been maxed out by the RTX 4070 Ti, and there could be a gap between the RTX 4070 Ti and the RTX 4080 that AMD could try to exploit by competitively pricing its RX 7900 series, and certain upcoming SKUs. This creates scope for new SKUs based on cut-down AD103 and the GPU's 256-bit memory bus. The AD106 is nearly maxed out with the RTX 4060 Ti, however there's still room to unlock its last remaining TPC, use faster GDDR6X memory, and attempt to slim the vast gap between the RTX 4060 Ti and the RTX 4070.

ThundeRobot Packs a 13th Gen Core Processor and RTX 4060 in 1.7 Liter Chassis

ThundeRobot, a major player in China's laptop market, is set to release a new PC console, the MIX, which shares striking similarities with Alienware's bygone Steam Machine. The console, equipped with Intel's 13th Gen Core CPU and Nvidia's RTX 4060 GPU, is set to debut on July 21st, predominantly targeting the Chinese market. Though not as familiar a brand outside Asia, ThundeRobot enjoys a significant market share in the region as the third-largest supplier of consumer notebooks and gaming peripherals. Its product catalog rivals brands like Asus and Razer, with offerings spanning custom-branded gaming notebooks to gaming monitors, keyboards, mice, and controllers.

The upcoming MIX console boasts a compact size, nearly 60% smaller than an Xbox Series S, at only 1.7 liters. Despite the uncertainty around whether the console's RTX 4060 GPU is a mobile or desktop variant, ThundeRobot brags that it would feature one or more of Intel's new 13th Gen Raptor Lake HX-series mobile CPUs. The console's matte black finish and triangular front-right indentation echo the design of Alienware's Steam Machine, suggesting that ThundeRobot may have drawn some inspiration from the Alienware console PC. Priced at around 6000 Yuan, approximately $830, the compact yet potent MIX console is expected to launch soon in China, with no current plans for release in the United States.

Acer Predator Arc A770 BiFrost Graphics Card Drops to Below $300

With the launches of GeForce RTX 4060 and Radeon RX 7600, the Intel Arc 7-series finds itself being a tough sell, pushing Intel Arc board partners such as Acer to clear out their inventory at deep discounts. The Acer Predator Arc A770 BiFrost graphics card sees its price slashed to $281, down from its $399 launch price. The premium custom-design card features a unique lateral+axial air based cooling solution that's studded with RGB lighting. The Acer Predator BiFrost is also one of the very few custom-design A770 cards to feature 16 GB of 17 Gbps GDDR6 memory, much like the Intel Limited Edition reference-design, most other custom-design cards come with 8 GB of 16 Gbps GDDR6 memory.

ICYMI, GeForce RTX 4060 Launched Last Week: A Summary of our Mammoth Coverage

Last week (June 29), NVIDIA launched the GeForce RTX 4060 "Ada" graphics card targeting a majority of PC gamers who still play at 1080p Full HD resolution. Reception to the new card was somewhat lukewarm, only 6% of our polled readers are interested in buying one (poll results). We crunched thousands of benchmark runs in our new 2023H2 test suite and managed to review ten different models of the 4060, six of which are available at the NVIDIA MSRP of $299, and we followed up with four more reviews of premium custom-design cards priced above the MSRP. Our results confirm that GeForce RTX 4060 is designed for maxed out gaming at 1080p; gameplay with ray tracing is possible at 25-50 FPS at 1080p, which can be increased by dialing down graphics settings, or through use of DLSS and DLSS 3 Frame Generation, in supported games. On the other hand, there were concerns with the small performance gains and high pricing, which makes many other options a viable choice.

We've put together a video presentation which compares all the cards tested, and that also serves as a really quick executive summary of the RTX 4060, and whether you should get one.

AMD Radeon RX 7600 Slides Down to $249

The AMD Radeon RX 7600 mainstream graphics card slides a little closer to its ideal price, with an online retailer price-cut sending it down to $249, about $20 less than its MSRP of $269. The cheapest RX 7600 graphics card in the market right now is the MSI RX 7600 MECH 2X Classic, going for $249 on Amazon; followed by the XFX RX 7600 SWFT 210 at $258, and the ASRock RX 7600 Challenger at $259.99.

The sliding prices of the RX 7600 should improve its prospects against the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, which leaked 3DMark benchmarks show to be around 17% faster than the previous-generation RTX 3060 (12 GB) and 30% faster than its 8 GB variant. Our real-world testing puts the RX 7600 about 15% faster than the RTX 3060 (12 GB) at 1080p, which means there could be an interesting square-off between the RTX 4060 and RX 7600. NVIDIA has announced $299 as the baseline price for the RTX 4060, which should put pressure on AMD partners to trim prices of the RX 7600 to below the $250-mark.

NVIDIA Makes GeForce RTX 4060 MSRP Official - Starting at $299

In May we announced the GeForce RTX 4060 Family, and launched the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti. On June 29th, the GeForce RTX 4060 will go on sale, with prices starting at $299. For gamers playing on previous-gen GPUs, the NVIDIA Ada Lovelace architecture at the heart of the GeForce RTX 4060 delivers a massive upgrade, multiplying your performance, and supercharging creative apps. And thanks to the Ada architecture's industry-leading efficiency, you'll use measurably less power, your graphics card will run cooler, and fans will run at quieter speeds or even idle.

Based on the May 2023 Steam Hardware Survey, 9 of the top 10 most used GPUs on Steam are 60 Class or lower, and 77% of Steam gamers play at 1080p or lower resolutions. For these gamers, the new GeForce RTX 4060 is a great upgrade, enabling them to play new, more demanding games at 1080p at excellent levels of fidelity. For gamers coming from a GeForce RTX 2060, performance is multiplied by an average of 2.3X across a suite of 18 games, and for GeForce GTX 1060 users, in addition to higher frame rates, they also get ray tracing and DLSS acceleration for the first time.

ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4060 to Cost 500 Euros

Retail pricing of custom-design GeForce RTX 4060 graphics cards were momentarily leaked by Finnish retailer ProShop, as seen by PCGH, and it's not a pretty sight. The upcoming GeForce RTX 4060 (non-Ti), which goes on sale June 29, at a starting price of $299, is for all intents and purposes, a mid-range graphics card. While all board partners are said to have basic-looking MSRP models in their lineup, their non-MSRP custom-designs range anywhere between 349€ (including taxes), for the GIGABYTE WindForce OC, to an eye-watering 499€ for the ASUS ROG Strix.

282€ (excluding taxes) appears to be the NVIDIA MSRP for the RTX 4060 in the EU, with the GIGABYTE WindForce OC and ASUS DUAL being listed at this price. There are a segment that has the same design as MSRP cards, but a slight factory OC, for a roughly 10-20€ premium. These include the likes of the ASUS DUAL OC and GIGABYTE Eagle OC. We then get into the flashy premium segment, with the GIGABYTE Gaming OC at 380€, GIGABYTE AERO OC at 390€, and GIGABYTE AORUS Elite at 420€. At the very top is the ASUS ROG Strix at 490€ for the mild OC model, and the ASUS ROG Strix OC (highest OC) model at 500€ (all prices include taxes). When installed, the ASUS ROG Strix will look like it's from a segment above, despite being based on NVIDIA's smallest AD107 silicon that drives the RTX 4060. It will be an interesting choice between this, and the cheapest RTX 4060 Ti.

Geekbench Leak Suggests NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Nearly 20% Faster than RTX 3060

NVIDIA is launching its lower end GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card series next week, but has kept schtum about the smaller Ada Lovelace AD107 GPU's performance level. This more budget-friendly offering (MSRP $299) is rumored to have 3,072 CUDA cores, 24 RT cores, 96 Tensor cores, 96 TMUs, and 32 ROPs. It will likely sport 8 GB of GDDR6 memory across a 128-bit wide memory bus. Benchleaks has discovered the first set of test results via a database leak, and posted these details on social media earlier today. Two Geekbench 6 runs were conducted on a test system comprised of an Intel Core i5-13600K CPU, ASUS Z790 ROG APEX motherboard, DDR5-6000 memory and the aforementioned GeForce card.

The GPU Compute test utilizing the Vulkan API resulted in a score of 99419, and another using OpenCL achieved 105630. We are looking at a single sample here, so expect variations when other units get tested in Geekbench prior to the June 29 launch. The RTX 4060 is about 12% faster (in Vulkan) than its direct predecessor—RTX 3060. The gap widens with its Open CL performance, where it offers an almost 20% jump over the older card. The RTX 3060 Ti presents around 3-5% faster performance over the RTX 4060. We hope to see actual in-game benchmarking carried out soon.

Palit GeForce RTX 4060 Dual Appears on Galaxus Store

Galaxus, a German e-commerce store had a custom NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card available for purchase yesterday—VideoCardz picked up on this embargo busting listing yesterday evening, but the product page has been removed overnight. Fortunately a screenshot of the Palit Dual's premature retail appearance was kept for preservation purposes. The official launch of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 (non-Ti) GPUs is scheduled for June 29, and European MSRP is set at €329 ($359). Galaxus had the custom Palit card priced at €339, so a €10 upcharge could be warranted if the included cooling solution is more robust than NVIDIA's reference design, or the extra expense covers the cost of more RGB lighting zones.

Palit revealed its RTX 4060 Dual and StormX series last month, with both variants being factory overclocked (OC). The (now redacted) Galaxus product page seemed to show a not yet announced Dual (non-OC) model, and a product code "NE64060019P1-1070D." Palit's press release from late May mentions that users can customize the Dual's cooler to some degree: "In light of the positive feedback from GamingPro Maker project, now the support is also enabled on the Palit GeForce RTX 40 Dual Series. Users can download the 3D files of the Dual cover and backplate from Palit website to paint or create add-on elements on it, and simply attach the 3D-printed cover to the shroud." It that unique selling point interesting enough to get prospective budget graphics card buyers to consider Palit's latest offering?

Inno3D Announces RTX 40-series Graphics Cards with Stealthy Power Connectors

Assembling a custom PC can be a challenging task, especially when it comes to cable management. In an attempt to make this process more straightforward, INNO3D has introduced a unique approach for hiding power cables on the upcoming GeForce RTX 4070, GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and GeForce RTX 4060 Twin X2 / OC White Edition graphics cards.
