Cooler Master Readies CM 690 II Advanced Case

Cooler Master is giving one of its best-selling PC cases, the CM 690 a facelift with the CM 690 II Advanced. The new model builds on the CM 690's design and stying, including the perforated metal front bezel with chrome lines. There are a few more gradients here and there to add to its rugged look. It seems to have slate/black colored rear panel, including interiors of the same color (from the looks of it). There is room for several 80/90/120/140 fans as usual. Cooler Master will detail this case further during its unveiling at the upcoming CES event. It also has a teaser site, though for now it doesn't show much more than a countdown.

To each their own. I like the 690 still compared to the rest of the crap that keeps coming out, talking to you Antec, and it looks like the same old 690 with the chassis being all black and the top panel looks thicker to maybe accommodate the 120/140mm fans that are thicker than 20mm.

Fan grills on the CM690 will make annoying noises when there are intake fans behind them.
This appears to have the same design. Lazy.

I really hope they release an aluminum and black internal version though...

If the top panel is thicker enough to put the fans there it will be already big improvement. It will give enough space for more easy access.

It's nice to see more and more cases already coming with black interior. Painting cases is a pain in the a$$.

Hey Kenkickr!

Yes, like him, I have the cm690 as well and it's a good case. For under 100$ I can't complain about anything. There are worse cases out there.

The advanced version so far looks to be pretty much the same except for the location of the liquid cooling intake/output holes. I guess we'll just have to wait until the countdown is up to see what, if any, other improvements were made.

Only 4x drive 5" drive bays though.. vs the old's 5. But the tube route at the back is better though.. the first one was a pita to route without elbows.

The only thing that bothers me about this case is the side panel. From the side it looks like a cheap $20 dollar case.

OP these pictures are really blurry. Are they from the press release? Are there higher res versions or a few shots of the internals?

My guess is based on the outsides, the insides are a totally new chassis. CM would be stupid to launch a new CM 690 II based on the same chassis that is the Xigmatek Midgard copycat. In the 3 years since the CM 690 launched, I bet you inside is a new animal entirely.

Yeah thats the one thing I didn't like about the CM 690 too so I bought the windowed side panel for it.

Me too. I thought I didn't like the window cut and would have prefered a rectangle but it actually looks pretty good and hides the drives cages nicely. However, the fan area is too low.

LANCOOL FTW!
Anyway apart from trolling this case looks like they took the design of the CM Storm Scout Sniper whatever it is cases and just meshed it with the old CM690 case. Needs a window im afraid as that side panel is ugly, im sure they could add a fan to a side window panel or someone would be able to mod it easily.

I think its nice looking but i dont see the inside of it.

its a nice case i have got one now. the only thing i found is the water cooling rads fit but the fans will not on the top, (motherboard gets in the way so does the ram) then on the bottom it fits (with fans), but you need to change the 140 mm fan on the front to a 120mm fan. none of this matters really to me because im changing the cpu cooler to a cooler master v8 or v10 i dont know whitch one yet and this case has 10 places for fan lol. the one behind the cpu is a 80mm, its ment to only have a 80x80x15mm but i found that a 80x80x25 fit fine. :rockout: :rockout: :rockout: love the case and cant wait to start modding for real!!!!

Just a Question about V10 cooler

I am asking because I havent found this specific answer anywhere on the web.
Will a V10 fit in the bloody CM II 690 without taking off any part of the case ?

Thanks in advance,
