Skyrim becomes 'Fastest Selling Title in Steam’s History'

It should come as no surprise that Skyrim would be a popular game for the PC platform. However not many people would have ever guessed it would surpass Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in PC sales. On Thursday that became a fact as Jason Holtman, Director of Business Development at Valve Corporation confirmed to IndustryGamers in a candid interview. He is quoted as saying,
"Skyrim is the fastest selling title in Steam's history," said Jason Holtman, Director of Business Development at Valve Corporation. "Bethesda's commitment to and understanding of the PC as a gaming platform shows in the great review scores, spectacular launch, and continued high player numbers that Skyrim has received. We are delighted that Bethesda chose to use Steamworks to support Skyrim both at retail and digitally."
Considering the Call of Duty franchise has been a SteamWorks distributed game for the PC since Modern Warfare 2, it says a lot for Skyrim's popularity on the platform. As a matter of fact, one could say Call of Duty was on its way to being the best selling game ever on the PC......until it took an arrow to the knee.

pressing the tild key ~ and entering player.additem ......is NOT cheating, if it was the game developers would have not put that in the game and they wouldnt have made it easily accessible. lol

Do you actually control your character in this game or is it one of those crappy click and watch watch bore fest games?

If its a good game people will buy it. If the DRM isn't retarded people will buy it.

Some notes to developers

The cutscenes are generally brief and even during some of them, you control your character to keep them close enough to hear the conversation.

Emphasis on BASIC intelligence.
There were a couple of groups at the midnight release opening at EB Games who absolutely lost it when they had their copy of Skyrim in their hands.

Jumping up in the air as if they won a gold medal screaming Huurrrrrr hurrrrrr SKYRIM **** YEAH! **** YEAH! then the other group responds with Hurrrrr **** YEAH!! Huurrrrrrrr!!

TheMailMan78Just because something sold well doesn't mean it wasn't pirated just as much.
And you think console games aren't pirated at all just because they are console games? Ahahahaha. Piracy always existed and always will. On all platforms. IT'S NOT A BAD THING! I used to pirate many games when i was a kid not knowing how things work, i just knew i can get the games.
But today, when i have my own job and i understand how things work, i bought well, pretty much all the games i used to pirat in the past and for the past 6 years or so i haven't warezed a single thing. Only things that i did was to test them before buying because there was no demo. Obviously. I own over 40 retail boxed versions, over 200 games on Steam and probably around 50+ on GoG and growing...

However i do not own CoD:MW and i also haven't pirated it either. I had a plan to buy it but when i've seen its ridiculous price, i've decided not to buy it. I however still have plans to buy Skyrim...

Good buy Skyrim it is worth every penny for sure.. I got MW with a few others for like $15 of steam and still really was not worth downloading lol. I got about 3 1/2 hours out of MW from start to finish.

With me playing a lot of minecraft with my wife and a few good guys of TPU Skyrim has taken 2nd place although i got 32 hours on it in like 3 days and had to stop as it was coursing sleeping issue's lol. Thing was all so my wife normally watches me play these games and she was to busy with Minecraft so she had no interest in Skyrim and ended up playing it on my own.

So put Skyrim on the back burner for now but still glad i got it and i don't believe there is another game out there which is worth the $60 marker. Steam will likely have after Christmas sales too so might be worth waiting till then.

Nah, mostly you run around questing, adventuring, exploring. Some quests will force you through a small singular response routine, ie "So you're the reason that dragon is dead?" only answer available, "Yep, I'm a kickass Bosmer, thank you." or something like that ;), or you get locked into a 3-5 minute song and dance with a questgiver where you pretty much follow along for story. But, mainly, go kill anything, steal anything, etc.

Um please no piracy talk. Like I said I’m bad for it too. We can debate it somewhere else.

No, it's separate mouse buttons for each hand. You can swing, cast, block (depending on what you have in your hand. You can charge, run away, whatever you want.

mysticjonlooks good, but i thought the point in a new game was too have a nice fresh look and feel and not to re-stylize previous games UI? why does one need to have the specs of each item/weapon when it already tells you??
The UI in this game is for consoles nothing else it not for pc but they dont want pc games to buy enymore of there games thats why they do it like that... and its in crappy flash

All things considered, I think it deserves the sales.
