AMD Unveils "Three for Free" Offer for Radeon HD 7900 Series

We are not new to AMD and NVIDIA bundling games and software in retail-channel graphics cards sold across all AIB partners. The most recent of these was DiRT 3 bundled by various AMD Radeon models. The latest such offer is dubbed "Three for Free", and is aimed at making getting a Radeon HD 7900 series graphics card a more juicy deal, on top of price cuts.

"Three for Free" is a bundle of three new PC game titles that are part of AMD Game ecosystem, which consists of DiRT Showdown, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Nexuiz. All new batches of Radeon HD 7900 series graphics cards sold by various partners, that's Radeon HD 7950 and Radeon HD 7970, will include a coupon with product keys for the three games, which can be redeemed on Steam as digital downloads. This offer is already active in the Europe, and will come soon to North America.

Egg has 14 listings of 7970's; with a Sapphire starting at $450 (-AR$10) wF/S and Dirt3; while the highest price straight-up... $510 $8 Shipping for the XFX Double D FX-797A-TDBC Black Edition but that gets you BF3 & Dirt3 coupons w/ purchase. The blulk are $470-480 So things are moving on AMD's side!

True but still - pretty cool deal.

If you don't have deus ex, you are totally missing out.

Would be nicer if they included some newer games... or if they would use older games, then if they had more than just those three options. NV usually gives you one free game, but you get to pick.

I see this more as a desperate move on AMD part to sell more 7900 series over Nvidia GTX680?
As they probably know that their dual GPU's 7990 won't beat the up coming Nvidia GTX690 , maybe?

Anyhow nice package deal for people that can afford these cards... i guess?

sorry, this is still not going to make me switch over to the red team. I've been on the green team for more than 6 years now.

I don't and I don't care. Looking forward to Max Payne 3 and Ghost Recon Future Soldier, not those 3.

I don't have either of them... maybe next steam sale I will.

That's a pretty sweet deal on top of the price cuts.

I wouldn't call it desperate - it's marketing. AMD broke their own trend by selling at an inflated price point. Now they've got a card that is perceived to be 2nd best they've simply retracted back down the price ladder to where they should be.

If anything, NV are now being greedy (or the retailers are) by keeping 680 prices so high.

As for the 7990 versus 690 it's hard to call. I can't recall where but some site did a crossfire versus sli review and the results were neck and neck. Found this though:

I don't.
I would have bought Deus Ex 3 already if I did not wanted to complete the older Deus Ex games first :P

Just shows how desperate AMD is. They have almost a full lineup of desktop GPU's, and a price drop on the GPU and CPU side, with the mobile side coming very soon, with nVIDIA having only a GTX 680. If that is not fear, I don't know what is. Just how long can AMD keep this up? They aren't even selling FX chips in that fancy tin anymore and went back to the standard paper box. People look at three free games now, but at what cost later?

I would rather take another $120 off and not get these 3 games as they are not my taste.

I tried Nexuiz and it's horrible

I have an 2500k @ 4.5ghz/6970 Crossfire

I tried to run the game on Ultra and it felt like 20 fps, forced AFR and zero improvement.
the Netcode sucks, They have a disclaimer that this is a Beta so...

Someone needs to pick up the slack and get this game some damn drivers!!

the game looks slightly better than UT3 and it runs horrid!!!

Well thats the ctch... they got the games for like 1/3 of the actual price. so its $40 and start massive price war with NV, who has a cheaper to build design... or sweeten the deal with some gamez
