Leaked 3DMark Time Spy Result shows Radeon RX 5700 XT matching GeForce RTX 2070

Reviewers should have received their Radeon "Navi" review samples by now, so it's just natural that the number of leaks is increasing. WCCFTech has spotted one such leak in the 3DMark Time Spy database. The card which is just labeled "Generic VGA" achieved a final score of 8575 points, GPU score of 8719 and 7843 CPU points, which is almost identical to WCCFTech's own comparison benchmarks for the GeForce RTX 2070 Founders Edition (8901). The Vega 64 scored 7427, which leads WCCFTech to believe this must be Radeon RX 5700 XT. The result has since been removed from the 3DMark database, which also suggests it's for an unreleased product.

RahnakYou think NVIDIA is going down from the 2080's msrp of $799 to $599 on the 2080 Super? :laugh:
Was thinking that too:roll::roll:

phanbueyah more of the classic Nvidia moving the goal posts with Super versions and price drops.
que?

What does that even mean?

It means that Nvidia isn't allowed to release new, higher performing parts without rebranding for at least 1 to 2 generations. (The RTG way)

EDIT: I mean, damn them for responding and dropping prices and not having a new gen ready to respond right now! Lolol

So happy I decided to Bite the bullet an buy a 1080 ti before crypto-crap drove prices up. 8700k and 1080 ti still faster than 99% of machines out there according to 3DMark. Picked the MSI 1080 ti Gaming X up on sale for $629 back in '17.

Awesome!

But what does that have to do with this thread about AMDs new gpu?

If anything it does bring a nice bit of perspective to this topic; a 1080ti (= RTX 2080) was 629 two years ago.

And here we are calling a $599 RTX 2080 SUPER an impossible move in 2019.

Its ridiculous, really. This is why my excitement over Turing AND the refresh is just about - 200. The fact remains that the only noteworthy cards are actually the AMD cards that got price slashed into the ground, and the RTX 2060. The rest is a straight up ripoff and Navi is looking to be another baby step way past expiry date.
nemesis.ie@Vayra86 I like you new avatar, maybe put a mirror in the other hand? ;)
Cheers :) It ain't photoshop though its an actual piece of art on Canvas I have here I kid you not. Took a pic of it

lynx29RTX 2080 Super for $599 is going to be the card worth buying still I am afraid. only $150 more and it will decimate, not just beat; everything and probably come to stock 2080 ti in some games once oc'd. if you want your card to last a couple years longer, might as well spend $150 more. so eh. but if you upgrade yearly or bi-yearly then yeah I'd say go navi
"Only" $150 more? That's 25% more, how much faster is it exactly to justify the 25% higher price? It would need to be 25%, or more, faster to my mind.

we're in a GPU rut these days. Unfortunately I feel it is due to NV having like 70% of the discreet market. Remember when the new x60 series could almost compete with previous gen x80 series, and be almost half the price? Not any more. Now we have the 'mid-range' 2060 moved up a whole price tier, and sit where the previous x70 used to be, and the 2070 moved up a price tier and the 2080 moved up a tier etc. Meanwhile the price/performance isn't there anymore. Its basically paying roughly the same as last gen for roughly the same performance (in the 2060/2070 at least). These 'super' cards... the rumor was they would be $100 less lol. If people have noticed, NV is going the opposite direction, prices for the supers will be higher than the ones they are replacing. Hope I'm wrong but, thats the feeling I have.

MEANWHILE people complain about AMD prices and yet, they tried to undercut NV but... people still didn't buy their cards. You have a shitty card like the 1050ti vastly outselling the superior 570. AMD has been practically giving them away ($120-ish with 2 games) but 1050ti still has a pretty large lead (at least according to steam analytics). AMD is in a real difficult position, and I wish they would release product cycle closer to NV. Say these new cards came out last year, or in Jan of this year, they could have capitalized on the 'space invaders' fiasco and maybe converted some disgruntled NV customers... instead we have cards that, while good, are too late to the party. People already have their 2060/2070s etc. I wonder if AMD couldn't do a 'trade in' program, where a person could trade in their current gen nv card for a discount/credit towards an AMD card. I don't know what they can actually do to gain some real marketshare when faced with competition owning 3/4ths the market. I'm sure someone would say 'build better cards' but that costs $$ and being a little fish, AMD just doesn't have the budget to fight against both intel and NV.

it will be more than 25% faster, the 2080 already is in some games than the 2070.

Interesting. I had read they were coming at the MSRP of the model they replace and in turn, those would see their price reduced. Wccftech and videocardz today both said $699 for the 2080 Super, which is still far cheaper than I ever expected from NVIDIA, so it seems your statement wasn't as crazy as I thought. Where did you get your leaks from?

This is a wrong argument and always has been. I still don't get it why this is almost a meme now.

@nemesis.ie I'd guess many of those are laptop parts.

@0x4452 Maybe the recently release driver (or another beta for reviewers this week) will change things.

Time will tell.

I also really want to see a comparison of IQ with the radeon sharpening vs DLSS vs stock and the associated FPS/frame times etc.

I want to buy (or not) a package of performance and features based on my monitors refresh rate. i.e. what works for my use case not "absolute fastest" or "absolute IQ" necessarily. But fastest for my needs with the best IQ at an acceptable speed.

It should come as no surprise that AMD, Intel and Nvidia all tend to demonstrate slightly cherry-picked previews.

nemesis.ieCurious: Why is that "the wrong argument" (IYO)?
I'd like to know too. From Steam Hardware Survey (May)

1050Ti = 9.91%
570 = 0.45%

1060 = 16.30%
580 =1.25%

Those two AMD cards are equal to or better than their counterparts, yet the marketshare disparity is massive. And now you have situations like today, where NV controlling most of the market, can set the price however high they want b/c people just keep buying NV no matter what.

This have pretty much been the case for years.
Try to find Vega towards the bottom of that list, then compare with GTX 1070/1080 and you'll see the same thing.

The explanation is very simple; when you have option A and B, which performs similarly, are priced similarly, but B have other major disadvantages (like heat, noise etc.), why would anyone choose B? Back in the "Kepler days", 1st gen GCN competed fairly well, and even for those models which didn't quite match Nvidia on performance, they usually offered some other advantage, like price, lower heat, etc. Back then AMD sold a solid portion of cards in the upper mid-range and high-end (or at least close to). In the recent years, Vega's market share have been so low that it some months don't even register on the Steam hardware survey, and most of the GPUs AMD are selling are low-end OEM cards or APUs.

nemesis.ie@londiste Curious: Why is that "the wrong argument" (IYO)?
GTX1050Ti and RX570 are not intended to be competitors and for the majority of their lifetime they have not been. RX570 was intended and priced to compete with GTX1060 - at MSRP of $169 or with street prices around or above that for most of last year until this spring. Before that, it was horrendously overpriced ($300+) during mining boom. GTX1050Ti is a $139 MSRP card that for most of its lifetime has been selling at $140-150 and was largely unaffected by mining craze, being even better in terms of $/perf for large parts of the lifetime.

Also, when looking at Steam HW Survey results or any general statistics like that, keep in mind that GTX1050Ti is popular in laptops as well as with OEMs where neither RX560 or RX570 has not been able to compete very well. The difference does not come from sales today and the majority is probably not from AIB sales.

Pretty sure steam stats show mobile gpus....

Edit: ...well they show 9 series... not 10... odd.
