AMD Software Adrenalin 22.6.1 Released

AMD today released the latest version of AMD Software Adrenalin. Version 22.6.1 WHQL adds support for Windows 11 22H2. It also adds optimization for F1 2022. Among the issues fixed are a performance drop noticed when playing "Fortnite" with multi-threaded rendering and DirectX 11 API; a stuttering issue noticed in "Overwatch" with cards such as the RX 6700 XT; higher than expected CPU usage with Instant Replay; and missing fan-tuning options on graphics cards such as the RX 590. Grab the drivers from the link below.

Highlights
  • Support for F1 2022
  • Support for Windows 11 22H2
Fixed Issues
  • Performance drop may be experienced while playing Fortnite with Multithreaded Rendering and DirectX 11 API on some AMD Graphics Products such as the Radeon RX 6900 XT.
  • Stuttering may be experienced while playing Overwatch with some AMD Graphics Products such as the Radeon RX 6700 XT.
  • Higher than expected CPU usage when Instant Replay is enabled on some AMD Graphics Products such as the Radeon RX 6900 XT.
  • Fan Tuning option may be missing on some AMD Graphics Products such as the Radeon RX 590.
Known Issues
  • Lower than expected Folding@home compute performance with OpenCL API on some AMD Graphics Products such as the Radeon RX 6800.
  • Hitman 3 may freeze when rapidly switching between windows in Fullscreen Exclusive mode.
  • Stuttering may be experienced while playing Call of Duty : Warzone on the Caldera map with some AMD Graphics Products such as the Radeon RX 6900 XT.
  • GPU utilization may be stuck at 100% in Radeon performance metrics after closing games on some AMD Graphics Products such as Radeon 570.
  • Using Radeon Super Resolution on 2560x1600 resolution displays may produce a system hang. A temporary workaround is to set the display Scaling Mode to Full Panel.
  • Enhanced Sync may cause a black screen to occur when enabled on some games and system configurations. Any users who may be experiencing issues with Enhanced Sync enabled should disable it as a temporary workaround.
  • Radeon performance metrics and logging features may intermittently report extremely high and incorrect memory clock values.

What is this? Did Win 11 already have a major update? Is this like the once a year big update that happens? It's out now?

The release is this fall but it's probably already available in the preview built you can subscribe to.

A marketing bullet point without meaning.
All old drivers will work perfectly fine with the unreleased future Windows updates.

Haveing had 3 hard resets while playing - I cannot recommend this driver - I have made a profile for setting to disable zero fan setting that all - but it makes it unstable.

While playing what?

Can you list the games?

I'm going to be installing the new chipset drivers and this tonight when I get home from work.

No issue so far for me, didn't use DDU, I just updated the drivers using the AMD control panel.

Do you know how to update Radeon Software?
Go to Control panel -> Programs and Features -> AMD Software - double click - uninstall - restart - start the new 22.6.1 driver package that is downloaded and follow the installation as it goes.

Most probably there is nothing wrong with the driver itself but either you screwed and messed the installation or there is something specific in your configuration.

You don't need DDU for simple driver update.
You need DDU if you remove an nvidia card and replace it with a Radeon.

I'm going to be testing the driver tonight in some games but i'm not expecting any issues. Usually hard reset are system instabliity due to something else.

Good luck, your feedback will be welcome for those doing the 2 updates.

DDU can be helpful if there is something wrong. I used to have a 1080Ti and once I didn't have all the features included in the "new drivers" (new back in the time), so I was used to clean the nVidia drivers everytime after that.
I think that if there is something wrong, DDU can be a good helper.
For now I just use the AMD control panel to update but I won't hesitate to use DDU if there is something wrong happening xD

As long as you don’t need it don’t upgrade, I’m on 4 month old drivers now at Nvidia, I simply don’t play the new games.

It usually means it will support the new WDDM 3.1 version that comes with this Windows update. Older driver can still work but can't leverage the new stuff.

Where/When is the driver coming out that has a 30% increase to performance for WoW:Shadowlands that was mentioned a while back along with numerous other games?
