A Visionary Horror Narrative by Ryukishi07
Renowned for his work on Higurashi When They Cry and Umineko When They Cry, acclaimed writer Ryukishi07 brings his signature blend of psychological horror and emotional storytelling to SILENT HILL f. Known for crafting deeply immersive narratives that explore human nature and societal expectations, Ryukishi07 describes his involvement as a deeply personal experience:

To this day, I remember the feeling of my first encounter with the strangling and oppressive atmosphere of SILENT HILL. It still deeply haunts me, and it still utterly fascinates me. It's an honor to find myself involved with a series I have so many memories with. I've poured all my efforts into this story, so much so that I don't think I would mind if it was the last thing I ever wrote.

To me, the SILENT HILL series is more than just a collection of stories, it's a medium; an amazing, phenomenal way of exploring and experiencing a person's heart and mind. It's my hope that players out there will come to appreciate it in the same way. To all of our overseas friends, I hope you'll enjoy a look at what SILENT HILL might be like if set somewhere a little different, like Japan.

A Bold New Horror Approach
Joining the project is celebrated illustrator and monster designer kera, known for her evocative work in card games and monster design. Deeply inspired by SILENT HILL 2, kera has worked tirelessly to create a visual experience that honors the franchise while taking it in a new direction.

Legendary composer Akira Yamaoka, who has been a defining force in the SILENT HILL series for over 25 years, returns to craft the chilling soundscapes of SILENT HILL f. Responsible for composing the music for the game's Fog World, Yamaoka blends haunting melodies attuned to SILENT HILL's psychological horror roots to create a universally unsettling experience that resonates with longtime fans and newcomers alike.

Accompanying Akira Yamaoka, well-renowned game composer Kensuke Inage will be responsible for composing the music for the game's Otherworld, adding a unique auditory contrast between the two Worlds in SILENT HILL f. Kensuke is credited in over 30 video game titles with a distinctive mastery in blending Japanese music elements with contemporary styles.

On the success of the SILENT HILL 2 remake, producer, Motoi Okamoto leads the project with a vision of reinvigorating the series through its first-ever Japanese setting. He emphasizes the game's unique approach to horror, balancing traditional SILENT HILL psychological elements with the distinctive aesthetic of Japanese folklore and fear.

An Experience That Pushes Boundaries
SILENT HILL f will challenge players with uncomfortable themes and their attached psychological torment. The game reflects the customs and culture of Japan during that era while delivering an intense and deeply emotional horror experience.

Players can wishlist NOW on all respective platform stores to play on PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S consoles or on PC via Steam, Microsoft Store and the Epic Games Store.

Physical pre-orders for PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S will also be available with select EMEA retailers, including a limited edition SteelBook as an early pre-order physical item incentive. Please check with your local retailers for more details.

So yeah, it’s a Silent Hill game in name only, essentially. It doesn’t even have anything to DO with Silent Hill. Still, looks somewhat interesting and, as I mentioned in another thread, I am curious in what Ryukishi can do here… as long as he doesn’t go off the deep end like he sometimes does and this whole thing doesn’t end up with two magical lolis having a Dragon Ball fight.

It looks to be an expansion of the franchise while retaining core elements. Yes it's not based in silent hit but many themes, ideas, and the presentation are distilled from the silent hill.

I'm sorry, but to be honest, it lacks the essence of Silent Hill.

Time and money would be better spent making a Remake of SH4.

They wouldn't even sell one copy, and fourth has ghosts which is a bigger change than Japan town's good idea.

TBH I'd settle for a PC version of SH1. Never got to play it because it's (still) a PS exclusive.

And yeah, this new game is really a Silent Hill game in name only. I'm afraid it'll be "too Japanese (Asian?)".

not bad but imo Japan is a bit overly represented, like why not for example make this take place in Mongolia, or Pakistan or Kazakhstan or Peru or something, just some place we dont go to in gaming....like ever.

A very exciting announcement. A proper Silent Hill game from Konami, set in Japan...brings me back to the golden era of PS2 J-horror classics.

I felt the same way too, why use an established name for something is different? Just use under different names, if it's good it will fly under its own name. It does looks promising tbh

Exactly, that's what I was saying. It doesn’t have to be a bad game, but it shouldn’t be integrated into the franchise purely for marketing purposes. Silent Hill fans will go in expecting X and end up with Y.

This could be very popular. Silent Hill was a definite hit back in the day. I expect more than a few people to be excited about this.

As an Australian I'm pissed off by our pathetic Government acting like a nanny state.
