Newegg Offers AMD Socket-AM2 Sempron 'Sparta' Edition

Part of AMD's marketing plan is to make creative, enticing names for their products. For one of their low-energy models, AMD's marketing department did a fine job creating a very memorable CPU core code-name: Sparta. For the low price of $46 shipped, you can have your very own Spartan computer part. This product offers more than an awesome name, however. The value-oriented part is built on a 65nm micro-architecture, requires only an impressive 45W of energy to run, runs at 1.9GHz with an FSB speed of 800MHz, has an L1 cache of 64KB+64KB, and an L2 cache of 256KB. Anyone hoping to own an AMD Sempron LE-1100 should follow the source link.

emotional appealing ... i realise most of AMD's marketing seems to be focus on emotional ppl and not rational people

In this dual-core cpu trend why the hell does AMD even take pain to produce a Single Core. Does any one really buy single core CPU when you can get a dual for almost $20 more? If it releases Dual Core SEMPRONs it makes sense. Make the dual-core ones that doesn't fully qualify for Athlon part as Sempron just like they do for single cores.

AMD stop wasting money. Morons.

I think I may understand the analogy here... Intel is the mighty and vast Persian Empire, and AMD is a bunch of buff Greek dudes in leather thongs! I get it, I finally understand the differences between the two!

Clearly AMD didn't see what happens to Leonidas at the end of the movie:laugh:

Gotta give it to AMD, cool "Sparta" processor sure sounds neater than generic Core 2 Duo and must be a selling point to some younger customers

ps. Yep Leonides got the short end of the stick, but the greeks did rise up in the end. Maybe its an omen ;)

Madness..? This is AMD!!!

Wow, I never realized how fake this pic looked :ohwell:. I would buy an Athlon x2 6000+ if the core name was Sparta :)

Tech Level: high - Ownership: less than 1 day
Pros: My children, gather round! No retreat, no surrender; that is Spartan law. And by Spartan law we will stand and fight... and die. A new age has begun. An age of freedom, and all will know, that 300 Spartans gave their last breaths to defend it! Also the Price.
Cons: Persians!
Other Thoughts: Um Nothing Really Overclocks Pretty well.
