LG Display Introduces Innovative Display Technologies at CES 2022

LG Display, the world's leading innovator of display technologies, announced today that it will be showcasing its latest innovations at CES 2022. Under the theme of "Display Your Universe", LG Display will be introducing innovative solutions that not only cater to people's constantly-evolving needs and various lifestyles, but also propose new experiences set to redefine the way people do ordinary tasks in their daily lives.

The company will be highlighting its differentiated and cutting-edge technologies to enhance people's lives - including OLED.EX, the next phase of OLED's evolution; Transparent and Flexible OLED solutions that break away from spatial limitations; IPS Black, its new high-end LCD technology for IT products; new Gaming OLED displays, as well as a 17-inch Foldable OLED display for laptops.

LG Display Unveils Next-Generation OLED TV Display, the OLED EX

LG Display, the world's leading innovator of display technologies, unveiled today its newest OLED TV technology OLED EX. The next-generation OLED EX display implements LG Display's deuterium and personalized algorithm-based EX Technology, which helps boost the innovative display's overall picture quality by enhancing brightness up to 30 percent compared to conventional OLED displays.

The OLED EX name is an acronym of "Evolution" and "eXperience", which represents the company's goal of providing customers with new experiences through its ever-evolving OLED technology. OLED displays are self-emissive by nature with their multiple millions of pixels emitting light independently without a separate backlight source. This distinctive characteristic lets OLED EX achieve the perfect black, rich and accurate color expression as well as an extremely fast response time.

LG Display & AU Optronics Working on 480 Hz Gaming Panels

We have seen the maximum refresh rate available on gaming monitors steadily increase over the years with recent models from ASUS, Alienware, and Acer offering 360 Hz support. The race for higher refresh rates shows no sign of slowing down with LG Display and AU Optronics both recently announcing that they are developing 480 Hz panels. AU Optronics is developing multiple high-refresh rate panels at a variety of resolutions including 1080p 480 Hz, 1440p 360 Hz, and 4K 240 Hz while LG Display is preparing a 24.5" 1080p 480 Hz panel with HDR 400 support. These new panels are slated to enter production in mid-late 2022 so we should start to see new monitors released featuring the panels in early 2023.
